Amazing modelling & texturing tutorial site

Post by Fooli »

http://www.poopinmymouth.com/tutorial/tutorial.htm

If you've got several hours and lots of bandwidth to spare, check out this guy's 3d art video tutorials. It's all very Max and Photoshop-centric, but it's fascinating (if you like this sort of thing) to see how it's 'supposed' to be done. I wish he'd done one for spaceships and lighting tho. And I wish I had the same understanding of anatomy... I feel even more ashamed of our crappy avatars now :]

I would say go for it, even if Fooli doesn't want to use them in space the gaming community as a whole could get much use from them as planet-side models.

By all means have a go at anything you like. Probably worth saying, though, that there's a much bigger audience for "world" stuff like buildings & vehicles (whether they're cars etc, or "robocrows" - mini spaceships). That stuff can be used by any world owner, whereas stuff in space needs to be tweaked and added by hand in the code (it's all hard-coded).

You'll probably need to know about the constraints of our model format before you get too involved in it. There's info on the forum if you search, and also some in the model converter manual, or just post here and ask.

I think you mentioned you'd done UT texturing and so on in the past. Got any screenshots of stuff you've worked on before?

You can't use anything that belongs to other people. If you have stuff made by yourself, that's one thing, but don't steal stuff from other games....

Great link Fooli. i love the texturing tutorials.

Oh hey Fooli i haven't seen all the tutorials but Mit told me you might be able to help me with making semi-transparent windows on an HD texture I'm 98% done on for the Lamborghini Countach (Hovertrans in Zion)
