now, what i've been doing is blowing up the heightmap to 16X larger than i want my texmaps to be, copy pasting my textures(which are all cut up images from the internet) over top that single image file, then when im done i split that file into 16 sections. If you start with a 8192X8192 pixel image, then when you break it down into 16 squares, they end up being 2046x2046 a peice which is a perfect size. also, this way, all the seams for the texmaps come out perfect, rather than trying to match up the edges of each texmap.
the next set I'm doing is double that size, so my photoshop runs a bit slower, but the texmaps should end up being 4092x4092 pixels a peice!
all 16 texmaps for sargent only took me 3 hours beleive it or not.
