Problem with Client?

Post by benton »

Hi i'm new and I have downloaded both the full download and the patch but when I open the program I just get the background picture and nothing else. When I open the program I get a message saying
D3D8 Aplication
"No hardware-accelerated Direct3d devices were found.
Switching to the reference rasterizer, a software device that implements the entire Direct3D feature set, but runs very slowy"

The music is on if that matters.

I do have directx 8

Here is a screenshot of client.

Have you tried upgrading your directx?...I think they are at 9.0c now....8 seems a little old. Other then that it would probably be an old graphics card. :?

I have 9, does this mean I have to buy a new graphics card? I seem to have the same problem with other games.

the game will run fine with directx 8.1b or higher. If you're having problems with other games too, that'd probably indicate you have a problem with your graphics card drivers.

If it were me I'd try reinstalling them. You'll need drivers that support dx8.1b or higher... if it's a really, really old card, that might be a problem.

Best process would probably go google for new drivers. If you dont know what your video card is, do the following..

- Click the "Start" button, then choose "Run"
- Type dxdiag
- Click the 'Display' tab on the window that opens... on this page it should show you the name of your video card.

Once you've got that, go to www.google.com , copy and paste your video card name and add "drivers" - after a bit of digging around you'll probably be able to find some options. Look particularly for drivers that specifically say they are directx 8 compatable.
(Alternatively, post the name of your video card here and someone will probably be able to recommend somewhere for you).
