Problem with Client?
the game will run fine with directx 8.1b or higher. If you're having problems with other games too, that'd probably indicate you have a problem with your graphics card drivers.
If it were me I'd try reinstalling them. You'll need drivers that support dx8.1b or higher... if it's a really, really old card, that might be a problem.

Best process would probably go google for new drivers. If you dont know what your video card is, do the following..
- Click the "Start" button, then choose "Run"
- Type dxdiag
- Click the 'Display' tab on the window that opens... on this page it should show you the name of your video card.
Once you've got that, go to www.google.com , copy and paste your video card name and add "drivers" - after a bit of digging around you'll probably be able to find some options. Look particularly for drivers that specifically say they are directx 8 compatable.
(Alternatively, post the name of your video card here and someone will probably be able to recommend somewhere for you).
