anim8or alternative

Post by Doge »

I was wondering if i could use a different modeling program then anim8or. I plan to make models for the universal if i'm accepted as a model maker. Please tell me if other modelers are compatable with the universal.

The only thing you have to do to be accepted as 'a model maker' is to start making models :) However, it's up to world owners, obviously, whether they use your models or not.

I've jumped ahead and added you to the Artist user group. You should now be able to access the special art pages here: http://theuniversal.net/artsection.php, on which you'll find links to a number of modelling packages that might help you. That's not a full list by any means - there are loads of options not listed (as you'd probably find from a quick Google on free 3d progs (eg, Zmodeller, OpenFX...))

Anyway: basically you can use any modelling program: the only thing it must let you do is export your models to .x or .3ds format, or export to a format you can then convert to .x or .3ds. To actually get models into the game you have to use the Model Converter, which takes .x or .3ds files and turns 'em into .atm files.

A warning to all, do not use Blender 1.37, it is busted like hell, well atleast for me, Ive model so much stuff, but i get python script errors when trying to export anything, also the U Mapper seems busted aswell, ive had 1 success and that was on a sword i modeled. Beware of the flaws in this version blender. -Malk
