So am I to understand the TU we all knew and loved has now been replaced by, essentially, a very arduous, time-consuming doodle-god?

Bump, bump, bump, bump, BUMP! I would like to reiterate the point that Mishka has made. Space is unplayable as it currently stands. Just yesterday I was in Cirrus Minor, there were 6 players in the system, and I could see one, who happened to be a fellow faction member. Space constitutes 50% of TU, ...

Sounds like a plan. It would be nice to have our own board *COUGH* for this kid of business, but since we haven't, I propose we use the Developer board considering it's underused as it is, and I don't think this kind of discussion is right for general chat, Does everyone have dev status? I shall sta...

Obviously, to carry out this ambitious project I would need help from like-minded TUers, and hopefully the support of the sysops (nudge nudge Mit and Fooli).
Can't do it on my own, chaps...

Wes, I agree with ElderGod, don't turn this into a flaming post. On the more productive points, I understandthat a lot of TUers are quite happy to let the onus fall on the current playerbase training up the newbies. This is all fine and well, and can be infinitely more effective than reading a guide ...

Alleviating the Stress of Newbies

Ok, So, as I mentioned in my TU Press Corps post (congratulations if you managed to read it in it's entirety without falling asleep), The Universal is generally accepted as having a rather large learning curve for new players. The way I see it, there are a few critical flaws which make this the case...

The Universal Press Corps?

Hi all, Quick suggestion: A few years ago (the last time I was active around these parts) I, and a few other TUers, volunteered to re-write most of the in-game text as well as online instruction manuals. The reason was simple; nearly all of the in-game guides are either outdated, or difficult to com...

Yup, I can confirm this.

Zion's become pretty much unplayable now, even with Wes's download folder. Connection is fine, but the welcome message is taking 60+ minutes to download.

Incredibly frsutrating.

Guess Who's Back, Back Again, DK's Back, Tell A Friend ;)

Evening chaps, So yeah, this is probably the 4th reincarnation of DK444. I'd like to change my avatar and username to make it sound like I'm not still 13 (I started way back in '05), but I feel it is part of my identity :P Anyway, doubt many of you remember me: I remember things like running around ...

Hi all, I've been advertising on a few Coders forums about looking for C++ coders ot help with a small MMORPG. I know I should've probably cleared this with staff first of all, but I've recieved a great response. I was wondering if there is scope to allow these coders to join the currently exisiting...

Wow, thanks fhko, this is fantastic. I like your world classification, I just wonder how it will be useful in writing guides? I have to inform everyone that I leave for portugal tommorrow morning, so I will be unavialbe until next Friday. While I'm away, I'll start on guides and then share them with...

All, I have written a short welcoming message for new players when they log onto TU for the first time. I've put a bit of a fictional spin on it see below: "Welcome to The Universal. We are happy to see you have joined us in Cirrus Minor, one of the main star systems in the Andromeda Galaxy. If...
