Music

Post by Bunford5 »

I don't know how much demand there would be for it, perhaps not very much, but i thought i'd at least make it known that i'm in a position to make original music for this game whether it's a theme tune or music for a radio station on someone's planet or whatever might be needed. Here's my website with examples of some of my tunes.

I could also make custom sound effects or maybe background music for the interior of a building or something. Anyway, if anyone needs some tailor made original music for any purpose, let me know.

Ooh, groovy.

If you have your myspace stuff in a format we can point to (ie, mp3 file or maybe ogg on a normal server with a URL per tune; or a shoutcast stream) then you could have your own radio station. I've always had a vague plan to do a player music-only station. Creating it is easy (it's just a text file on the gal server with a list of tunes) but we can't really do hosting for it all, so would need to live somewhere else.

If I'd ever got around to finishing the new space station interior I reckon some noodly musak would have been perfect. As it is, I'm sure there are peeps here that could use a bit of audio stuff for world purposes.

I also wonder whether Captain Fooli and the Space Monkeys might embark on a collaborative jazz voyage of space cowboy exploration... er, well maybe not :]

"mp3 file or maybe ogg on a normal server with a URL per tune; or a shoutcast stream"

The only part of that i even vaguely understand is "mp3". I've got all the tunes on that web page as mp3 or wav files. Or i can make new tunes as required. e.g. "make me some background noodly jazz for a bar interior"

If you've uploaded it onto myspace as a mp3 file, then your good to go mate. I just checked out your stuff, pretty nice tracks there.

Good to go, as long as we have URLs for each of the tracks..

I have a place where tracks can be hosted if anybody needs stuff to be hosted for an in-game radio station.

I can also contribute some music to the station if my music is good enough.
Here's my artist MySpace with a quick bunch of sample tunes:
http://www.myspace.com/vdzx

More music can be found on my albums (in release order; quality increases as you go down the list) [not official albums or anything, just album-sized collections of music I upload and call 'albums']:
1. Lost
2. Silence Noise
3. Infinity
4. Electronic Orchestra
and my Tindeck profile (mostly in reverse chronological order; quality mostly decreases as you go down the list).

...and I have a ton more tracks (198 total at last count, made a couple since then, does not include short loops and alternative versions), but quality varies.

tl;dr: I can host stuff and you can use my music.

Fooli - This'll sound silly but even "a URL for each track" is beyond my incredibly limited vocabulary of computer related terminology.

morbydvisns - Bunford5 ingame = Jazzocaster

VDZ - Nice tunes.

Basically, when you upload a file to a website or server, the URL is the location of the file, which can be used to access that file. For example, I uploaded 'Creation.mp3' to http://www.stack.nl/~vdz/mp3. This makes the URL of the file http://www.stack.nl/~vdz/mp3/Creation.mp3 . You can use that URL to directly grab the music it's referring to.

In the same way, the game will have to grab the music from other places on the internet, and it needs the URLs for each of the files to do that. This means you need to have the music uploaded somewhere so you can link to it.
