Try fullscreen mode. And eliminating background processes if it's such of a big problem.
Idk if they implemented graphics options but lowering those might help.

Also, consider changing OS to something better :-)

TU is using over 600MB by itself... no other program affects another programs MB usage.

seems a bit high to me.

what resolution is your screen? a larger window will use more ram. but still should be lower.
has the game been running for a while or is it just opened?

just opened and in space at my regular window size, my client only uses around 120mb of ram. if i enlarge the window to nearly my full screen size (1920x1200), it still only uses 300mb of ram.

although, something i just noticed is that every time you resize the window, the ram usage goes up but never goes back down, even when making the window smaller.

lol. after resizing it a lot, i got it up to 1.7gb of ram usage, then it crashed

My screen resolution is 1280x1024.. i think i had TU sized a bit bigger than 1024x768, i was playing for around 20 minutes of jumping from space system to space system.

Its weird that it goes crazy with the ram... i think it gathers ram as you play the game and builds up garbage in the ram. 600MB of different space systems and textures that weren't freed as i left the system, i think it just kept building up.

I told Mit about the large RAM usage by TU but since we were in ariya he blamed it on ariya... well... it happened in space also..

I'd agree that it seems too high. If I run the game and sit in space, it's about 120mb (which is still loads for such a tiny game but there we are...)

However Zar's little test would make me suspect the game isn't releasing RAM it doesn't need, and that might be something mit should look at. Did you test that on worlds as well as space zar?

that test was in space only.

testing it on zion...
client opened ...110mb
landed on zion and went near buildings...jumped to 197mb

well...it seems to work on worlds to, but not nearly as fast.
each resize only made the ram usage go up by 1-5mb. regardless of the size change
compared to in space when it would jump by as much as 150mb per resize

got it up to 450 and it crashed.
retested, got it up to 520 and it crashed.

even going into small mode doesn't make the ram usage go down.
not when on worlds or in space

I'm having the same problems maybe not as much ram usage but the longer I keep the app open the slower everything gets. It's same in full screen mode. When ever I close the app my computer stays slow until I either log off and on or restart.
