Display Error

Post by DeathsHand_Mantis »

Ok, lately when I try to get on TU, the entire game freezes, crashes my PC's graphics, and I am forced to restart. So, I've been toying with the game resolutions, and tried 1024x768 32 bit. The game wouldn't for anything go to fullscreen, and when I tried to resize the screen, I get a message saying "tractor directX error"

Well, the usual advice applies.

Nothing has changed with TU. Therefore you have a problem with your PC, and/or files thereon:

- if other directx games exhibit the same symptoms, you've most likely got a problem with your graphics card drivers. Uninstall them, reinstall them. Better?

- if other games are fine, you might have got some corrupted files in your TU install. Reinstall it. Better?

- if neither of those works, you've got something fundamentally wrong with your PC universe (ie directx needs reinstalling, you've got hardware problems, some evil malware has infected your world, etc).

this is exactly what my issue is, happend the same way. and it forced a switch to some directx mode that it states will be slow loading..

re-installing the game did nothing to correct the problem and my system is clean. i use multiple scanners etc.. i've even shut them down adn it doesnt change a thing. Shut down the firewall. and that isnt the issue as commands are issued real-time regardless.. i can check on this in the small view.. so i'm connected and there are no issues except for the universal not rendering like it did when i first installed it..

no other game has these issues. And they all play fine.

This sounds like bad code in the directx area of the universal program itself.

As the error originated from theuniversal and not directx.

maybe i'll try re-installing directx and see if that resets things

It first started when i went to small view, change from fullscreen to windowed.. that worked fine.. then i tried to switch back. and it crashd, and gave me that directx had a problem and will now use some protocal software rendering i've never seen before.. wish i could get a screeny but the box itself is mashed up along with the blak box which is now the universal.. and this does repeat, but the error cause system hang.. before the box xcomes up...

the gui will load, but planets dont, there is this one ship that takes forever to get texture on to.. but even then nothing loads and nothing is visuallly workable. but the cammnds are issued..

I noticed this one peice of softare i can't remember installing called devicescape... think i've removed this several times..

I've updated directx, but did not uninstall re-install.. could be a long process that could mess up several games settings.. possibly..

hopefully we can work this out... wonder if nvidia has any updates...

theres a link to the eror message i get.. this one was done by hitting the maximise button in windowed mode.. also repeated by clicking windowed mode button in full screen mode. without restart of the ap.

I've re-installed most of my drivers now. tried updated dx and nvidia drivers.. scanned my system several times...

while eminem was logged in, i would get p2p gauranteed failed.. sometimes i can see the list of people logged in.. always i can see how many are in.. but it's glitchey too..
some prefab hax that people sell or make and distribute, have back doors.. and if it's true that this game connects to each individual...it could be bad, and effect more and more people...some may be experieneing this error as invisible objects in space, as the connection loses packets or becomes lagged... as usually some of these programs can be combined computering.. sending the info around several hops.... I hope this isn't what is going on...

dougy and pazsion are the same account, i tried to edit profile info.. while under pazsion and dougy is the profile i was editing.. then my computer crashed. related to nv4-disp.dll..

no reason why it would have failed.. but i got a BSOD

maybe we should just delete my info, and i'll try re-signing up...after another un -in re -in

:x

I have a linksys accesspoint as well as cable x 200mb/s full duplex.. sometimes i get 30/m/s d/ls.. and before the dx erro the game played very smoothly.. and i enoyed it..
I am almost at my wits end here.. the router.. i assume is linksys.. but may be netgear...
but if that was the problem wouldn't i have issue from the beginning?

DirectX is related to graphics rendering. Your network or internet connection does not matter here, AFAIK. nv4_disp.dll is the NVidia driver. If it crashes, you may need to update[1]. If nothing helps, not even a complete reinstall, your graphics card may be broken, but that's quite unusual; just try updating your drivers first.

see what? people not seeing each other? it happens all the time.

and it's probably happened to you as well, but you just don't know since you can't see the invisible person using the netgear router :P

but... what's different about netgear routers? We need to run a wireshark, dump all of our network traffic, dump output at the server too, then check where it's going wrong... I want to squash this bug, just to know why it happens!
