A new player, & a member of SIN has set a record!
John Doe, a new T.U. player & a member of Hunters new faction SIN ; with less than a month in the game: has found ALL the aliens and has gained a Gal Cruiser with phasers!. I challenge all veteran players to match that record! When asked how he achived this amazing accomplishment JohnDoe had only to say " I just looked around a lot & found them" How modest! How amazing! If I wasn't for the fact that he was one of Hunters aka Elder God's faction mates I would tend to believe that the alien location info was being leaked to newbs thus ruining the only quest in TU. Of course given the SIN leaders past of total honesty, integrity and fair play I would never suspect that of him.
lol. that's what guilds are for. helping each other out. teaming up. etc.
players giving out locations of stuff and money via bounties is no surprise either.
its been happening since the stuff was first put in and can't exactly be prevented.
less then a month and he found the stuff. not exactly hard to do.
it doesn't take months of time to stardrive between the 512 systems and peek in each one for a blue dot that represents the aliens and jot down there locations. there's also a website that can easily be used to find the most profitable trade routes. if you have a good 8-12 hours to spend, you could make hundreds of thousands of credits in a single day since each trade run only takes a few mins.
military hardware from m-209 to m-495 for 700cr per profit in not even 5 mins time.
even if you only carry 10 per trip, that means 7000 per 5 mins.
12 trips per hour = 84000cr in 1 hour. do it for 8 hours = 672,000cr.
and thats only when moving 10 at a time.
get a ship like the alien freighter with its 65 cargo capacity and you can make millions with 8 hours of trading.
seriously, this is just a game, so many of you space addicts act like every little thing is a life or death situation and unless somebody does things your exact way, you act like they are cheating.
btw, johndoe's account isn't activated (*cough* fooli? ), so he is unable to reply to this topic.

While a lot of what you say is true, zar, it's a certainty he knew exactly where to look ;)
The quest should randomly change location, and one day - if I keep going on at mit enough - maybe it will.

PS - JohnDoe doesn't have a forum account - looks like it was wiped by our new hyper-efficient spammer killer system. Probably because JohnDoe is about as likely a spammer name as you can get (apologies if that's actually his name :). If he wants a forum account he'll need to re-register.

I admit I'm a little intrigued that the primary reason for my interrogation is that I associated with a particular individual. That's purely circumstantial evidence, so as far as I'm concerned, the prosecution here hasn't succeeded in proving anything. I'm not going to make a big deal out of out his, just do some basic math for the benefit of everyone here, and be done with it. I'm not going to argue or even bother replying to this thread further after stating these simple facts. I don't think it should take someone such as myself who's majoring in comp sci and minoring in mathematics to comprehend the logic of the following numbers, and perhaps remove some skepticism.
The statement that it takes more than a month to search all systems is false. it's so false in fact, I'm going to do the computations for a week, not a month
It's my understanding there's 512 systems. I've not bothered to count them all but I'm pretty sure that even if that's not exact, it's certainly in that ballpark.
any calculator with a division key's going to give you a simple conclusion here:
512 / 7 = 73.142857142857142857142857142857 per day
73.142857142857142857142857142857 / 24 = 3.047619047619047619047619047619 per hour
I don't know about you but I can't play this game 24/7, let's say I can put in 6 hours a day, that's 1/4th of a day so I'll need to go 4 times faster with those hours, yielding
12.190476190476190476190476190476 visited systems per hour
now it's important to fuel up every 6 systems or so, meaning that's going to remove about 10 minutes from every hour, leaving 50 minutes to simply stardrive 12 systems. Something that anyone here should realize is reasonable, given a little dedication.
The only thing not in this equation is that in fact it's not so simple to just "stardrive to the next system" because the map is indeed very textured and there are dead ends here and there, and so forth, however you should consider two things when arguing this point. One, that I just did the computations for a week, and two that that speed of exploration means, if it were so simple, I would have covered *all* systems within 7 days, and I'd like to quietly point out that anyone who knows where everything I had to visit is knows that it's highly unlikely that those would be the last systems visited, the above equation is for a worst case scenario in which the last thing searched was what was needed to be found, something not in actuality very likely to happen in practice.
To my deathbed I'll tell you I didn't "cheat" or what have you, because frankly it didn't happen. I hope that now that both sides have been seen, this thread can be done now, though I have reason to believe I shouldn't be so optimistic.
Weather you believe I was told the locations or not is not something I'm convinced I can change, however the least I can do is prove to you that the accusation that it can't be done in a month, let alone a week as I have proved , is total lies and slander. Provided with this evidence, I have no problem about each and every one of you reaching your own conclusion, primarily because I have nothing to hide. Unlike this aggressor I have provided hard numbers and facts, rather than just blind accusations based on opinion, I really hope that shines through to at least some of you.

could have been.
i personally think he was hinting at cheating. my post was made right after talking in-game with john after he spent a few days trying to track down a staff member out of fear of being banned due to things other players were saying to him. accusing him of cheating, accusing his clan members of giving him stuff or item locations, etc. stuff which (from all that i read and hear) isn't exactly uncommon anyway.

I ran into johndoe the other day and he said he simply just found all the aliens... i asked him whether hunter or some other player helped him and he said "you would think so... but no"
then he started to get all defensive about it. either way, he's not the first person to find the aliens... and he's not the first to be given the locations from somebody else in a faction...
he says he found them all himself.. we should maybe just say we believe him and forget about it. John's a pretty cool guy though... if he said he found them himself... then let's say we beLIEve him... i could shatter his record by asking somebody like KB where the aliens are.. i would be able to get it in a week or less... depending on how much time i had. Somebody else should do this. then we can beLIEve them too
