Problems with world (or most likely me)

Post by Mantis »

I downloaded unregistered world full installer, ran "your world," and went through the
planet name registration etc. I opened "the Universal" and "my world" was not on the list.
I went into space and entered the world name in the infimp(twilight), and the world is there,
so i windowed it and brought up "your world" and I landed on the planet. The barren planet is there, but i cannot edit it. When I click on the planet icon on the top right of the your world tool bar, it reads "error executing client program check your client is correctly installed at the location specified in the Options- general options window". When I first installed "the Universal" I did not have administrator rights and could not install anything on drive C so I had to install it in "my documents." I don't know if this is the problem, as I don't know if i installed
the world creation program in the right spot. I installed it in my documents as well but it is in a separate folder. Also, when I am on the planet, and I click on "system" it says"Multichar DeathsHand(my name) cash reset to 5000. I don't know what this means, but is it a problem? I have read the owners manual, and as it says, i'm probably being a complete monkey, but this is the first time i have ever used a program like this. I am using dial-up that averages around 50kbps. It says windows firewall is active.Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

First we must learn the value of the carriage return, grasshopper. Sorry, Mantis.

Ok:

1. Your unregistered world should normally be installed in the same folder your game client is in. That will give you the "your world" option in the client splash screen.

2. In your unregistered world folder there's a file called serverconfig.txt. Edit that in notepad and make sure your name is there as the world owner. That'll give you full rights to edit stuff.

3. In the unregistered world options/general options you can tell it where you client is installed ("Client to use"). That (in theory) will make the client launch when you click the little world icon from the world server prog.

4. The multi character thing... um, well that might be fixed if you do some of the above.

See how you get on...

IServerconfig.txt says owner=deathshand(my name), and client to use says galaxy.exe,
but next to it said directory containing game clients, so i put in the location of galaxy.exe and now when i click on the world icon it launches the universal game :? About installing it in the same folder, it is installed in the universal folder but is in it's own folder, so should I just uninstall it?Always thankful for the help and sorry for all the headaches.

No, just install it in the same folder as the game - the root, not its own subfolder. Makes life a lot easier.
