!find Yes or No that is the Question

Post by lensman »

Seeing as this is not a bug and to keep the bugs forum for bugs only, I will restart the subject here in General.

I the Sandgroper who did not like the idea of the !find, logged on this morning. As I was sitting there in the space station seeing who was in the system. Seeing all the players who were warping in and warping out. I got to thinking about this !find.

I took note of the players and there ships, who warp in and who warp out. One or two players were warping in and out a lot. Anyhow when the players left the system I the Sandgroper did some test to find out about this !find.

What did I find out I here you ask.
What I found out is that !find in not as bad as some people may think it is. Since upgrade .050.04 life in space has been a lot better now. Yep seeing who is in system while you are docked in the space station. Yep thx Mit for making life a bit more easy for us traders.

When you !find a player 1 of 4 items will pop up.
1. The player is in orbit near planet ? in system xxx
2. The player is docked in space station near planet ? in system xxx
3. The player is in space in system xxx ( This includes mining as will. )
4. The player is ofline.

The only down side to !find is if you are near a planet with a name, same for the space station. The player using !find then just warps to that planet. ( Seeing as most of the time they have no cargo.
As for the rest they will need to warp to the nearest planet with a name. Then fly to were you is or system jump.

Yep I say lets keep the !find. New players can always post in the game help if he thinks a player is just after him only and killing him all the time. Then other players can sort him out if ya know what I main.

I is a Sandgroper and catch me if you can.

*me doesen't really care anymore

i don't play space because of the vast unfair advantages pirates have.
you guys wanna keep using it to slaughter people then fine, do it.

maybe eventually you'll come to your senses and realise maybe space is getting emptier and emptier because of you guys doing things like this and driving players away. i know its why i don't play space. theres no point in playing when i have no chance of doing anything.

I do agree that !find needs to be changed Zaroba but don't state that space is getting "emptier and emptier" when its not even remotely true. Just six months ago I was lucky to see 1-2 people in space at a time. Space has become much, much more active within the last 6 months.

As I said in the other topic we have going for this, a bounty system that acutally punished players would cut down on people blowing up newbs for the fun of it. I'll also disagree with what I said about fed space lasers about a month ago. I think they need to be outlawed until a better bounty system gets installed. There are many people just blowing up cargo ships with 4 waters for the fun of it...and adding "kills" to their profile.

I agree Zaroba, I don't play space either. It was less complicated when there was just islands

I find it funny how people who haven't visited space in the last month or so even post anything about it. Space is going better then it ever has been imo. Just had another real successful fight night a couple hours ago.
theres no point in playing when i have no chance of doing anything.
Heh..whatever zar. Coolbiker just joined a month and a half or so ago and he's 2nd in overall cash and organizing events. I could name a numerous amount of other people who have a good amount of cash and a good ship who are regulary patrolling around space now. Just look at the top 50 and see how many people HAVE ACTUALLY DONE something. You'll find that a good number of them are fairly new.

I don't care one bit if you choose to stay on planets. Just don't say so false things about how space is going without ever experiencing it firsthand.

For NOW, the !find command is pretty useful, or abuseful...but infing after someone for cargo/bounty is something we'll have to deal with for the moment...

When the galaxy fills up, even just 1/3rd of the way with planet names, then !find should be removed to Admin/GM only. I don't even think System guardians should have it.

Or...not sure how the programing of code would have to work on this...

But make infimp get cut off by the Stargate. On this lil side of the gate, our corner of the galaxy, Infimp all over the place. But that 383/122 bottleneck, you physically have to drive through the stargate to use beyond that point. Now, again, this would also be when the galaxy has more then 2 dozen named planets with at least 20% of them past the Stargate bottleneck.

Also...Stargate a lil bigger, please? I am tired of flying at .01 Impulse, and missing the breadbox target with HMS Hugeassship.

yes, its quite easy to start up and get wealthy in space when you start it before all the piracy stuff got fully programmed in.

as for space being more populated now...thats funny...in the other topic, the exact opposite was said :P
Mishka wrote:Pirating is already hard, dont make it harder. Especially those days when there is no prey in sight  You search all systems and not a single ship, just stars
Thats why sometimes we go for the noobs!
which one of you is lying?

as for now...whats so special about it in the past month?
hmm...pirates that use !find and high level stardrives to quickly teleport to you as your struggling to get to the top wealth and/or trying to experience the joys of space you seem to think people are missing out on.
wow...sounds so exciting. i'll sure be willing to go in and try out space knowing that i could be easily killed dozens of times by the time i get enough saved up to get a good enough ship to successfully defend myself against all of ya, which might take a while from taking regular losses.

"There are many people just blowing up cargo ships with 4 waters for the fun of it"
even more incentive :P

i said it in the other topic, and i'll say it here. space is really no different from a world. nearly everything IN space can be replicated on a world, even with more detail and various areas could very easily be made easier/harder. plus, theres more locations to play, meaning all the different worlds. so don't go acting like space is all special. i could list all the replicatable stuff and ways to replicate it if you want.

as for never experiencing it first hand...
i did play space, before it last reset, after which i didn't have the time to play it and needed a vacation from the game because it was becoming an undesired outlet for stress and anger from having to deal with barely being able to live paycheck to paycheck
the next time it resets...yea, i'll give it a chance then as well.
until then...i'll just be saving up prestige to get an alian megascout. when i succeed, i'll play space. i'll be a bounty hunter, using !find (if its still available) to track down all of you :P

oh...umm..

just asked him on zoric:
zaroba> hey cool, how long have you been playing space?
coolbiker> since end of oct zar

so..your statement of 'a month and a half or so' is about a month and a half or so off :P
ya shouldn't say false things without confirming it :P

as for the events thing...pretty much anybody can say 'lets have an event where you do (whatever) on (whatever) day'.

Em, zaroba, sorry but there ARE days were there is very little people in space, maybe around 10 people in space, but the are other days were it rises up to 25 people in space! And others on planets.

Just depends on the day. :D Thats why I said " Especially THOSE DAYS" The same thing happend on Zion and on your planet Zoric, sometimes it is full, sometimes it is empty.

So NOBODY is lieing here. 8)
