Setting up Wildlife?

I would like my planet to have plenty of wildlife. I was thinking whales, monkeys, ostriches, mermaids, the whole shebang. However, I enabled wildlife in my world, but there are only ever 8 or less creatures. They are also all Wildlife 1 and not Wildlife 1, 2, 3, and 4. Any ideas?

on your client, go into small mode, then under the options menu, choose General Options. change the Client Side Max Wildlife Limit to 255. the default is 8.

(i'm assuming you set the wildlife counts on the world already)
