AP cause ship to run into sun

Description:
I was leaving unknow's[temporay paint's plaza] stations then I target planitia and then hit home and then hit F9 for auto pliot.
The thing didn't reconize the sun as a DEADLY THING!

what do you expect? the drunk monkey that was programing it got hungrey and looked up at the sun. he thought it was a big round banana and wiith his hunger and imagination driving him nuts at the time, he accidently made the autopilot goto the sun to provide everybody with delicious big, round, yellow bananas :P

If you click anywhere on screen with the mouse before closing the map window (f3) autopilot currently disengages and targets the sun - Mit ses he's fixed this bug and the fix will be in the next patch (See bug report Icarus autopilot)

if the problem is that the sun is in direct line between current position and destination, you need to manually steer round the sun before engaging autopilot - it chooses the most direct route, not the safest.
