only problem with it is that a player will download the radio on each island they goto even if its the same song that they got from a different island

When you come up with a few tracks I'm sure we can find some webspace to host them on, somewhere. Then Zar's comment will also be addressed - I think different world owners could just point to the same web address in their config files, which might mean people don't have to keep downloading the same music. If not, I'm sure that's something mit can address as a special case for radio.
I'm really keen to encourage owners not to use copyright music. I dunno if the staff could get into trouble for that, but you certainly could. Hedge writes stuff, and so do I (sometimes) - I'm sure others in the community do too. It'd be great if we could build up a bunch of legal soundtracks world owners can use, hassle-free and with a clear conscience :)
