my bounty was 25000 cause i killed that cuba guy over and over for exploiting the bug. then i lost a fight and only had 20000. the remaining 5k came out of my phasers.
so in all i lost 120,000c for a 25,000c bounty.

the first line in MITs post about the new bounty system explained in clear details. i quote
New Bounty Rules..
When you've killed someone who..
a) isnt carrying illegal cargo, and
b) doesnt already have a bounty
..you will be given a galactic bounty. Another player may then kill you and earn that bounty - which is taken from your galactic cash. If you cannot afford to pay the bounty, your lasers will be removed.
the bounty system isnt set up to "sell" your lasers to pay the bounty, its there to keep players from making the same mistakes twice. the conclusion is that if you have no money and no lasers, you wont kill innocent players
How about assigning bounty for STEALING only? I.e. killing AND grabbing his cargo?
If you kill someone without cargo, you do not get bounty. If you kill and get some cargo, only then the bounty is assigned.
Its ridiculous to assign bounty for killing an empty guy, as he doesn't lose anything. You actually did not harm him in any way. It was probably just friendly fight, you know? You may even have helped him by sharing some fight experience in a relaxed setting (without danger of losing cargo or money).
It will open lots of opportunities for fight practice everywhere, not only during set periods of time of Fight Night (and look how difficult to gather people to meet for a Fight Night). Just imagine how many more people will learn to fight in space and defend themselves. Attack from different angles, positions, dodge etc...
Imagine a chat on Zion:
- K dude, I've filled up my steel factories, nothing to do for a while.
- Great, man! How about space fight? You win, I give you 100s, I win, you give me.
- Let's do. How bout 3 rounds?
- Good idea, let's meet at M-25. I will fly from Planitia to Sabrada, pretending to be a trader. Wont' use InfImp. You gonna be pirate, k?
- kk, lets go!
... after a while
- Nice fight mate.
- Hilarious. And remember how in 2nd battle you dodged...
That only problem being that it leaves people open to harassment (constant killing), a workaround would just be restricting combat and trading for a wee bit after getting killed.
buying new lasers is about 20 creds. however, it took me a level 40 stardrive to get to them, and they are at an unknow space station, so you can't infimp to them.
Harassment is a separate issue and should be solved separately. It probably doesn't even require some fine-tuned game features. Social methods are good at handling harassment - just chatting with person may help. Or asking other guild members to help if harassing person is in some guild, asking advanced players in game or in the forum, even up to a ban.
Anyway, if bounty system works only with cargo, what is the use for harass? He will not get anything with it, except lose time. He will probably want to harass some ship with cargo, but here the bounty system will be at guard as usual.
Also, harassment can be justified sometimes towards some player that behaves badly and annoys everyone. (And I do not mean anyone in particular lol)

I'd say mechzone would be the perfect place for this, its on the finite drive so everyone can access it without uridium and its not too out-of-the-way.
flametard, aka stimutax; if you dont want to play this game anymore, just uninstall the game and quit posting negative remarks on the forums. the rule is spelled out in a way even a mental patient could understand. no need for you to be pansy off just because you were on the short end of the rule this time. we dont want players to quit playing the game, but if its not your cup of tea, just walk away peacefully.
Geez people....Have some patience at least and be thankful that your not paying for the game. These bugs will eventually be fixed just as the gameplay will be altered in the future.
Until whenever the future is, thank the staff for making such a unique game. If you don't like it, don't post on the forums saying so and go play something else.
