I am probably the most "space" experienced player right now in this community, go ahead and ask anyone. I know all the ins and outs, and I could easily weight my opinion over yours just because of that. But I won't., because your opinion is just as valid as mine. That's my point on that part.
The truth is, Gorach, that "space" is no priority in TheUniversal, you've just realised it just now, but many old space players like myself saw this a very long time ago.
This game is in not about space and neither is space a priority in development, it is more like an "addon", instead of a space game. It's nothing important in this game and neither does the game evolve around it.
It is very sad, because this part of the game has potential (space), but as I have seen over the years: Space will never get any serious attention like worlds do. Let's face it Gorach, TU is not a space game.
If anybody tells you: "TU is half space, half worlds", then let me tell you that is a lie. TU isn't "half space, half worlds", TU is "Play worlds, make worlds" and between it you have space, but why is space there? Space is there as a commodity, to show that worlds are worlds, "planets" in other words. But it is as important as a lake on planet Zion.
You may ask yourself: "Then why do we have weapons and a trade system in space?". Well the truth is, none of that was made by this game's developer, perhaps a bit touched but nothing more. The space part is another game which got merged into this one, I think the name was "Iridis".
Space has never really been worked on, except on small details. This game just isn't a space game, it's the cold harsh truth.
Your idea is noble, you suggestion is true, but it all comes down you one thing:
This game is no space game and it will never sacrifice anything from worlds for space, never. Space is there as a reason to make worlds "worlds", actual "planets" instead of islands, to represent them somewhere instead of cybernetic void of nothing. But nothing more. All the space features such as trading and fighting come from another game.
My advice is if you're looking for a space game to play, look somewhere else, TheUniversal isn't a space game, it's not what you're looking for Gorach. I'm sorry to say it more than anyone could, since I was one of the core space players, but it's the cold harsh true.
