The following guidelines apply to all community forums. Please read them carefully.
Message Board Code of Conduct and Rules
The Universal Community Forums are provided to give the community a place to meet to discuss the game. The Universal is a complex game that relies on productive and positive player relationships. To help ensure that these forums can continue to provide a place for players to meet and discuss issues outside the game, we expect you to abide by the following rules.
1. “Flame” posts are strongly discouraged and will be heavily moderated at the moderators’ discretion. Flame posts include hostile and negative posts directed at an individual player, staff member, moderator, team or family
2. The content of posts should be fit for a “PG” audience. To ensure this standard, posts of an offensive nature (including inappropriate language, nudity, racial slurs, or hate language) will be heavily moderated. This includes signature files and URLs.
3. We discourage discussions of the board itself or of moderator decisions. If you have feedback on either of these two topics, please direct your questions to webmaster@theuniversal.net
4. Threads are to be in posted in their appropriate forums. Posting duplicate posts across additional forums is highly discouraged. Anybody that reads the Help forum will surly also read the General forum.
Thier is no need to 'kick' a topic either. Just because your topic doesen't get a reply in 2 hours doesen't mean it wont be seen, it will still have the yellow unread topic icon and will still be on the first page of the forum for over a week.
if you post a topic and nobody replies after a few days then its most likely because people that have visited the forum either don't know the answer to your question or they don't see any reason to post.
5. Technical Support questions should be posted in the Help and Support forum. Tech Support questions posted in the other forums will be moved to the Help and Support Forum.
6. The moderators are all community volunteers. Their job is to keep the forums productive and positive. From time-to-time you will see them edit posts just to make a comment. These comments are intended to assist keeping the boards on track. Moderator comments should not be edited.
7. Please do not post threads about cheats/exploits. Posts discussing cheating, hacking, or exploiting are prohibited whether they are complaints, accusations, observations, commentary, etc.. Such threads often lead to information on how to use or obtain cheats/exploits so discussion regarding cheats/exploits/hacks should be avoided at all.
If you need to report a game "hack" or "exploit", email the report with as much evidence as possible to abuse@theuniversal.net
All "hacking" reports will be investigated by The Universal staff as they arise. Those found active will be dealt with as fast as possible depending on the current development schedule at that time. Accounts that are caught "hacking" in any way shape or form can be locked immediately with no warning, questions, or recourse.
8. Pictures in signature files should be 56K friendly and comfortably fit a monitor displaying the generally accepted “standard” resolution of 1024x768. Please use compressed formats such as jpeg wherever possible.
9. Please refrain from having personal discussions with individuals on the boards. This includes “JOE – EMAIL ME” type posts. if it is necessary to contact another player please use the in-game mail system.
10. Do not create “Test” posts. Visit one of the forums and contribute to a discussion and observe what you want to test.
11. Do not repost threads that have been locked or deleted and do not repost content that has been edited or deleted by the moderators.
12. Spamming is not allowed on these forums. This includes any form of posting expressly to increase your post count without providing content or posting multiple topics for the same discussion. The moderators will use their discretion to determine when a post is not intended to begin or contribute to a community discussion, if a post is considered to be a spamming post it is liable to be deleted by the moderators.
13. Do not defame, abuse, harass, stalk, threaten or otherwise violate the legal rights (such as rights of privacy and publicity) of others.
14. Do not Engage in hate speech including, but not limited to, racial, ethnic or religious slurs
15. You may not arrange for the exchange of pirated software or other illegal items/substances while using the The Universal services.
16. Linking to any file/program/software that could harm a persons computer will result in a ban. This includes “crash me” sites.
17. Do not repost private emails without the participants expressed permission.
18. Do not publish, post, upload, distribute or disseminate any inappropriate, profane, defamatory, infringing, obscene, indecent or unlawful topic, name, material or information.
19. You may not advertise or offer to sell or buy any goods or services for any business purpose on these forums without permission from The Universal. (contact webmaster@theuniversal.net).
20. You are prohibited from using the forums in connection with surveys, contests, pyramid schemes, chain letters, junk email, spamming or any duplicative or unsolicited messages (commercial or otherwise).
21. You may not harvest or otherwise collect information about others, including e-mail addresses and IPs.
22. The Universal team accepts no responsibility for external links you may follow from posts in these forums. You follow all external links at your own risk.

Signatures were disabled ages ago. Shouldn't this be removed?Magicfinger wrote:8. Pictures in signature files should be 56K friendly and comfortably fit a monitor displaying the generally accepted “standard” resolution of 1024x768. Please use compressed formats such as jpeg wherever possible.
