Pain in the ass removal option

Post by Mit »

One of the annoying parts about setting up your buildings is that once you've created em in the bdat editor, ya then have to copy each building from the 'buildings in your world list' to the 'buildings on your island' list, right?
This is legacy stuff from when worlds would have multiple sub-islands connected to em (an option that isnt being used atm and probably wont again.. for a long time at least..)

Anyway, to get rid of that annoyance, 0.1.35 servers have a new option to 'Use All Buildings' - which basically gets rid of the right panel list on the buildings selector. Whatever buildings you add to your buildings.dat are available on your world automatically.

This shouldnt affect things for those of ya with active worlds - but it should make life a bit easier for ppl setting up their world for the first time.

I mention this particularly now, because if you want to use that option on an existing world, you need to have the two panels listed in the same order. (i.e. building 1 on the 'buildings in your world list' must be the same as building 1 on your 'buildings on your island list', and 2 should be the same as 2, etc etc.) If this is not the case then Don't use the new option - itll confuse things big time and the buildings on your world that were ore mines will suddenly become schools and all sorts of horribleness like that.

Confused yet? :]

Yes it was confusing when I first tried to setup my world. I have it figured out now, but it would be nice for it to be automatic. There could always be an option for two islands then the two panels would come up. If you choose to have two islands in one world.
