I downloaded the game and it wont work. What do I do now.

It says it cant run. Missing some file.

We'd need to know which file it says its missing pls.

If you've downloaded the full install from the downloads page, i'm pretty certain theres no files missing from the pack itself (other ppl would have let me know by now) - so i guess its most likely that the missing stuff is part of DirectX 8 - You need to have that installed to be able to play the game.

If it is somethin like d3d8.dll youre missing, then visit www.microsoft.com/directx and grab the latest version of DirectX. (Assuming you've got the PC power to run it)

ummmm no i pointed that out in one of my other posts i would never email microsoft its just a waste of time my universal installer came with 5 files missing

nuge, you diden't get ignored. you said you were missing a bunch of files, somebody asked if you actually got the full install, you posted saying you reinstalled the game, then nothing else was posted about it. most probably assumed the problem was fixed since you diden't say it diden't work.

anyway, i've just downloaded the full install (the 6mb "minimum install" link) and it works fine.
am useing a newly reformated hard drive with no other games/programs installed yet.

hmmm...this info might help a bit (but i doubt it)
the gateways.lst file missing wont do anything, the client will just remake it.
if your missing a bass.dll, this is associated with sound and comes with DirectX, as is d3d8.dll. will also get a Bass.dll error if your computer doesen't have sound, click ignore in the error and it'll work fine.
frontend.jpg missing wont really matter either, its just the startup screen graphic, clicking ignore will let the game work. can click ignore and continue playing despite any error about a missing file that ends in .bmp or .jpg

ok soz bout sayin that i was bein ignored but i checked on my friends files to see what files i was missing and i am missing all the files in the clients folder that arent in folders except for the one that it makes when u enter ur info...

afaik, the only files that should be in the clients folder are Tractor.cfx, options.exe and galaxy.exe.
or, do you also mean the data folder and the maps folder also?

There was a problem that... when you downloaded the full install of galaxy you didn't get all the files.

The reason this wasn't ppicked up was because 95% of us already had downloaded tractor.exe full.

i pointed this out to mit when my comp got wiped, and i just downloaded galaxy, but then had to download tractor because of the missing files.

Mit replied saying he added some files to the galaxy and i assumed it was all well and done.

It seems not.

Solution? someone uninstall tractor and gal copmpletely and just dl gal...

What i meant, was to find out what the problem was someone would have to completely uninstall and just dl gal, and then realise the gal didn't have all the compoonents needed!

You need the tractor.exe download...

the full gal install should have everything in it now - far as i know i added all the missing bits when the problem was highlighted. As zar said..

So you have nothing in the client folder except galaxy.exe? to confirm again, I've just done a full clean install from the version on the site and i get

Galaxy.exe
Arcade.dll
Bass.dll
Interface.dll
Options.exe
and the Data folder

..therefore you should too. :]

Are you installing to the default folder ( "Program Files\Universal" ) ?

jus in case its a bug with the installer, can u check to see if you have a folder called Program Files\Universal\Clients\Clients ?

Nuge.. you say you're missing 5 files - i'd like to know which 5 files you think you're missing please?

im sorry i made a mistake im missing eveything in the DATA folder sry i said the wwrong one the only things i have in there and the folders
