new items in the bdat editor

Post by zaroba »

cloaking device? flogging stick? monopoly permit? brain pills?
what the heck is all this new stuff?
do any of the items do special things yet?
does the knighthood item give a player knighthood or something?

i love the new tuneup item i was just reading about on cvs, and since i've been havin quite a bit of fun while tinkering with the other new items, i figured i'd suggest a few more items along a similar vein, with the understanding i've requested myself well into the next century and shouldn't expect anythin till 3006 at best

that said, a few other ideas for items that i think would lend to some fun :

1] real estate license (allows you to override building restriction tiles)

2] hybrid motor (subtracts -x to fuel consumption)

3] robocrow controller (overrides cam setting 2 - so you have to buy
this item to use robocrow mode)

4] battlesuit (adds +x to whatever the weapon damage of the equipped weapon is)

(5 has been added in a seperate bug)

6] monopoly permit (doubles the number of buildings and different types you can own, in accordance with server settings)

7] super intelligent bastard scroll (doubles the number of skills you can learn, in accordance with server settings)

8] cloaking device (hides you from view or on the map or both, whateva's easy)

9] knapsack (adds +x to capacity)

10] security card (allows you to go walk on / through inpenetrable tile)

11] bigger brain (allows you to learn all skills instantly rather than having a wait time)

12] rotatebuilding (when carried allows non-barons to use rotate building command)

13] flogging stick (when carried allows any player regardless of auth to use flog command)

14] other command item candidates (all would allow the specified command when the item to the left is carried, regardless of auth):

- position-reset computer (allows resetpos)
- referee badge (allows *ballreset)
- demolition kit (allows *removewalls)
- big boots (allows *stomp)
- baronship (when carried sets auth level to baron)
- bigger boots (allows *kick and *stomp)
- thunder bolts (allows thunder)

...and lastly a non item thingi figured i'd sneak in here ;]

15] additional gravity application modes in the vehicle control mode settings. it's neat in that if you set the grav real high, you can use the lighter gravity modes to sell "stronger" jetpack motors. (incidently an "vehicle settings---extras" option for removing the flame trail and one for displaying the crow's afterburner meter when a vehicle has jetpack equipped would be quite slick i'd think, the former for "jump" mode, the latter for adding a lil' oomph to jetpack.)

Sounds spiffy.

Except the flogging stick, i hate the idea that people could buy it... they would just have flogging fights constantly, and you couldn't even say stop, because they made it and its up to them its not a 'power' to abuse :x

heh, my fault here, so i'll give ya my .02 on it....

i liked it cause then they have no excuse to ask for knighthood or godship, and if they abuse it i can just *grantitem playername -1 flogging stick. problem solved :P

either that or on war islands just shoot the bastard and take his flogging stick ;)

I am well aware of that... pfft :o

It's a stupid option, a flog is representative of a warning yes? for doing something wrong? well i consider it that. And now when noobs go on most worlds and get flogged for swearing they'll be like whats that for? we'll say its a warning. Then they goto "Flog 'O' Thon" world and get flogged constantly, it will just create confussion, lack of respect for 'the flog' and the newbs might not like being constantly 'warned' for simply playing while some idiots with sticks keep hitting them!

lack of respect for 'the flog

yeah, in a game which is otherwise marked by the highest order of respect and gratitude towards fellow players and the developers
