Post by flametard »

I've got the remote desktop, I've got the amazon ec2 or whatever. I think the world server is in the right place. Please register xebec, I'm trying to tweak it so players can be building castles in 2 hours and seiging in 3. Thanks.

good news and bad news. the good news is that the registration you sent seems to have worked. when i run the server the server window says connected to the galaxy, i flew my shuttle to Tau Ceti and saw Xebec, its even got my custom planet skin! but in space, it says no connection. when I attept to land it says the server is not responding to join messages or something. i think my client is 70.0 and my server is 69.9. is my instance bunk? did i put something in the wrong folder? any ideas?

Connection looks good this side, so i suspect you haven't done the port mapping on AWS yet? To do that..
- Go to your EC2 Dashboard on the Amazon Web Services page, select Networkng & Security -> Security Groups.
- Select 'Create Security Group'
- Name it something
- Under the 'inbound' tab click 'Add Rule'
- 'Type' = Custom UDP Rule
- Enter the port number your world uses (default 9005 according to my logs)
- Set 'Source' to Anywhere
- click create

should work then

p.s. getting latest world server is always handy.. theres a executable only zip on the members downloads page.. extract that, close down the world on the remote desktop then copy over the new world.exe.
