Pandora opens its doors to the world
Pandora opens its doors to the world
The world of Pandora is set up and ready to play on.
It's current setup is as a somewhat easy, but large, economy.
You can have up to 16 skills and 20 buildings.
There are 10 ground vehicles and 6 planes to craft and drive
The world will have hunger and thirst but it is not yet turned on.
There will be no wellbeing to worry about.
For easy access, just type Pandora into your infimp.
Otherwise you will need to star-drive to system M-209 and fly to the planet.
For those that have played TU long ago, it is running the original Sabrada setup, only slightly modified to fix some issues and make it run better in the current version of the game.
For those that didn't play TU before the chapter stuff started, this is an *old* style economy. It was made with the older version of the game, and I have tried to preserve as much of that as I could. Some stuff seen in the chapters will not be doable in this older world. Clicking the ground wont make you move, and clicking a skill and selecting 'Use' wont do anything, to build something you will have to use the Construction Menu at the top of the screen. Items can't be 'worked with' either. The only items that can be 'used' are food and drinks for eating and drinking. This also means that *suicide will not reset your character. If you need to restart, let me know and I will reset you.
If there are any bugs found, feel free to post here

no reset after suicide
I learnt some skills and buy wood to to see that i need different skills for that buildings (no any description what you need for them). I stay on 241s and decide to start all over again. Typed *suicide command and when get back to Pandora got button: "You died.Press here to reset and start again". I pressed it but i have skills i learned and still 241s in pocket, just lost my house and 200 wood i had in inventory. So, there is no reset.
the *suicide not resetting is correct. updated the top post to indicate that. in the past, people have often liked using *suicide to collect money which messed up the economy, so resets need to be done manually.
The skills should match the types pretty closely (ie, Build Production for Production types) but I will edit the school script today to include specifics.
Buildings not showing any details is annoying.
Looking to fix that now, I always hated that setting.

Pandora now has a bank which offers 5% interest per game month (2.5 hours).
Some special notes about the bank:
-Money in the bank will not contribute to top networth or top wealth
-Money in the bank will not contribute towards world tax rates
-Interest will be calculated anytime you visit the bank and deposited directly into your account if you are owed any.
-Because the bank is scripted, multiple banks can be built that will share the same account system
-it would be very easy to let players build banks in their own towns and charge fees on withdrawals and deposits.
on a minor note, this bank is what will be used on zoric when I finish it.

Hunger/Thirst needs to be activated, unemployment halved, people are playing a stalemate game atm over 1d price gains/saves, self stocking, Zar please enable Cannot stock self owned. get the ball rolling, the stalemate is dumb.
I landed and droped 965s into the economy, 200s probably to the gov/skills/taxes, so 765s across a tight 3 player spectrum and they still want to play end game tactics and cry I'm poor and gotta play cheap....if I can't nudge them with reasoning perhaps its time for a game mechanic nudge.

The gov shop was meant to only be temporary anyway, it can easily be changed if its an issue.
On a side note, I was thinking while at work tonight, I might just reset Pandora after redoing it.
Due to me being obsessed with detail and wanting things to be flexible and reusable, the scripts I have been making zoric should be *very easy* to convert for use with other economy worlds. So I might just convert Pandora to using the same scripts that zoric will be using, but a side effect of that will be requiring Pandora to be reset.

i wouldn't be crushed if this needed to take place
i am a fan of continuity so if a reset make things more continuance then it would bring more enjoyment too
any idea of when you were going to do this and could it be sooner then later, i'm growing weary as it is, don't know how much longer i'll stay playing...
maybe mit should release a single player version of the game, community is cool and working together is fun, but there are too many pit falls and squabbling and i've always found that i'm constantly harassing people for stuff or actions and at first everyone is cool and helpful but this game is very demanding at every stage and people start to feel apathetic, and players who were daily are not around as much, i've been plagued with this issue every single time i've tired to play this game . I don't even want to harass these people, worst is when i find new players and veterans who say they will help take items and investment from me getting set up play for 10 minutes maybe to an hour and quit then die all building and items cash poof gone hours of play for not to start again and harass. i would just do it myself but it's not designed like that which is why i made the above statement.
it feels like there are 2 or 3 core players on each planet i am one of throes players on every planet moreover i feel like i play for the community which is some what of a needed thing around here so i feel my presence would be missed. I will drive on, but this is starting to feel insane.

i've played a few facebook apts more like got drawn into,
these games required "team work" and harassing other facebookers but there were always ways to pay money and avoid this, i did this. and i would do it again if paying money led to less headache then it would be worth it.... food for though perhaps?

Time frames suck (one of my early posts about the current zoric was by the end of 2012, lol). But earliest, I would say 1-2 months.
Need to finish zoric and then run it to make sure the script is working and fix any issues/errors. There is no sense in trying to convert it for use on other worlds until it is finished and working as intended, right?
I can't see it taking long to convert it to Pandora's setup. Maybe a day or two. It's basically just looking up and changing a few pages of numbers in 2 (critical) script files. Creating a new Construction Menu for Pandora's buildings, and changing the school skills. Possibly a few other minor changes here and there due to specific building differences (ie, pandora's econ doesn't require you to grow and cut down individual trees for wood)

it goes by player age, not online time.
Character has to be 16 game years old. I think your 12 when you first start.
Mainly put that in to prevent new players from spending all their money on a vehicle before being bale to afford to live. Probably should have put some kind of notice in it to tell you how old you are at the time.

I think its bugged because I haven't been able to buy that skill for a while now and I'm pretty positive I'm older than 16 on Pandora.zaroba wrote:it goes by player age, not online time.
