Fair trade on Wheat-bread

Post by Crapski »

The underlying problem is the huge difference in daily salary between miners and farmers,
farmer complain about not being able to afford bread, and they are right.
Miners earn 14s per day, some farmers 1s4d per day.
No way bread can be made at affordable price for such a salary.

If salary and pricing is as below, bread is affordable for every worker.
Player: price:
Farmboy 5d @ 5s per harvest = 10s per day
farmowner 3d @ 3s per harvest = 6s per day
Wheat: 8d

2 wheat =16d
miller 3d =12s per day based on making 40 Flour(*)
millowner 2d = 8s - " " -
Flour 21d

baker 10d = 10s per day, based on 20 bread per day (*)
Bakery 6d = 6s per day
Bread = 37d

Roughly based on 40 players needing a total of 20 bread per day,
with more bread sold, there is a bonus for mil, millers, bakery and bakers.

In the above calulation, Mills and bakeries don't produce fulltime.

*edited to match new settings 1 flour = 1 bread

Farm boy get more than owner in that scenario, so worker will become owner.

Farmboy can/may only have 1 job,
that NEEDS to be enough, because new players have no other source of income.

In a rl situation the owner has more maybe a lot of workers,
that workforce combined usually earns more then the single owner too.

Farmowner can also have another bussines, AND he can have a job himsef @ 10s per day or more,
he won't starve.

Yes, but it's still better for the shop/business owner to sell out, build and work in a gold mine, Worker getting 144d per 24 hours and owner getting 288d /24 hours.
Therefore new players earning potential of just 144d per 24 hours is best pay for work around, and they do not even have to log on more than 1 every 48 hours.

The problem is that not all new players 144d per day but sometimes as little as 14d per day,
and on that salary they starve and die.

Then they have no money and no skill and leave the game.

Sound good to you?

If I may point something out, your post assumes that 3 different people own the buildings.

Farms are Farm type Mill and Bakery are Manufacturing type
All three buildings can be owned by one player.

When all 3 buildings are owned by one player and they move the products themselves, then the cost to make the bread would only be defined by the salaries of the employees as no building to building profit would be needed.

Farmboy 5d
miller 3d
baker 10d
=1s8d to make bread

2.5s sale price. the employees make the same money as in your scenario, but bread is less then half the price and far easier to afford so people have more money to spend on other things.

Indeed.
Organizing production lines,
that's where there is room for competition (or bigger profit if there is none).

Looks like the bread situation is now solved, after Mit changed the amount of flour used. So there is now enough for one mill and bakery to get on with and be paid for, along with workers leading up to bread development.
At last a small part of the economy takes shape, hopefully everyone will now live and be able to move forward towards the other goals.
