Zoric Beta Testing

Post by zaroba »

I doubt it will be this weekend. Maybe next weekend.
Or later if mit doesn't fix the buildingvars

If anybody would like to get an early peak at the new zoric economy and beta test it, please post below. The world will be set to run faster to work out any bugs in the scripts, so it will be a bit easier then normal. People who test will get access to a special vehicle when the world starts as a show of thanks. Plus you'll have the nice advantage of already knowing how the world runs.

Only 5 can be let in at a time, so the first 5 to respond will be allowed in when the time comes. Since things need to be tested, playing is a requirement. If more then 5 respond and somebody doesn't seem to be very active they will be removed and the next person will be let in.

You must be a Member to take advantage of this, so get a subscription if you want to test it.
It's only $2 a month :)

I really should have thought of saying this before.

Since I didn't have the beta ready by now, it wont be ready before the end of the year. With it being December and xmas getting close, it means the busy time at work and mandatory overtime until xmas passes, then the slowest time comes and lots of voluntary time off for a month.

No clue. Depends on how often and how much real life stuff gets in the way.

Real life stuff being work (and being too tired from work)
How much of a bother Carpel Tunnel decides to be at the time
What other stuff is going on (if I feel like watching a movie, or playing farcry 3, or whatever)

Oh, and also depends on whatever other idea pops into my head that requires me to script something new for zoric. lol. Lately it has been scripting a weather system to effect farms combined with models of weather types to be placed and removed depending on what the weather should be at the time. But the feasibility of this is still unknown as 3d models to represent clouds, snow, and rain may be quite gpu intensive, depending on how realistic and nice they look.

Also debating on stopping adding/changing stuff in favor of finishing stuff and saving any changes/modifications for a later zoric VS continuing to add/change resulting in the world taking a very long time to complete, because, why leave out stuff to be added to a later zoric when it can be put in to make this one better?

Hmm...I wonder if it would be hard to incorporate illness into the script.

Weather system is including temperature, so if the weather is cold, you may be more susceptible to catching a cold if your out walking around. Already had a Doctor office building in the bdat for a possible nutrition system that I decided against scripting.

Playing on xebec, i've gotten the common cold, diphtheria, cholera, dysentery, lice, a bad cut, a bad tooth ache, and probably some others i don't know about yet.

lol.

Xebec having illness is one of the thoughts I have against adding it to zoric.

It would make me feel like I'm copying Xebec or taking Stim's ideas.

Would be impossible unless I scripted colds into zoric.

So you would get miraculously healed upon entering Zorics atmosphere due to the lack of colds being able to exist on Zoric. Of course, once you left and went back to Xebec you would once again catch that cold since your body did not build up any antibodies to defend itself against it and because the gold germs are able to exist in Xebec's atmosphere.

It might be.

Mit had been working on a way for playervars to be transferred between planets.
