Introduction to Chapter 3

Post by Mit »

Hallo, a few random notes about chapter 3 (which should/will be in game really, but this'll do for now :] )

This chapter will be a long one. The aim is to advance the world up to the medieval era. (At least, it is for players.. theres a different aim for development).

For the first week or two the main task is just to survive.

If you can keep your character alive and get old you'll start gaining wisdom. (1 at 40, 1 at 50, 1 at 60 then one every 5 years after that). Wisdom will be required for various purposes, including the building of 'project' buildings, (like a 'Lyceum', 'Colosseum' etc) that open up new building types, skills, items and minigames.

If you die, you lose all your wisdom, so you'll need to 'spend it' before you go.

Trading, at the moment, is by barter only. The invention of currency will happen during this chapter.

Farming : (this info will be in the game script soon - and the script itself may change so this is just to avoid any immediate confusion. May be out of date by tomorrow :] )
The current farm script works as follows :
- First you dig the land, then you plant seeds.
- 2 (realtime) days later the crops will be ready to harvest. You need to log in and harvest them by visiting your building and clicking the option.
- Theres a 4 hour window where your harvest is ready (so between 46 and 50 hours after planting). After that 4 hour period your crops will wither and die, and you'll have to start over.

As a more general note, the 'Big Thing' about chapter 3 is that (unlike all previous worlds) all the buildings are 'scripted', meaning the behaviour of buildings can change and new buildings with custom behaviours can be set up and added easily. For farms, for instance, i'd like to have the crop yield affected by things like irrigation, seasonal weather patterns, when you apply fertilizer etc... these little additions will be getting made over the course of the next few weeks, and you'll be notified about them in game and on these pages. Same applies for all the other building types.

um, what else ... ?
No swords anytime soon.. this'll be a peaceful place, for a while at least.
Per the introduction screen, don't be surprised if things get broken or even if the world needs a complete reset.

Comments and suggestions welcome as always.

Great idea, we don't really wish to fight right now. A peaceful chapter is welcome.

(Atleast until the Medieval Age, then it's all out kingdom war muahaha)
