Yes I've always had FPS issues on Genesis, don't know why.

.shadowvolumes switches off, er, shadow volumes :]

Will almost certainly give you a massive fps bump. Something's not quite right with the shadow stuff at the moment.

.shadowvolumes is a switch - type again to switch 'em back on...

Agreed, even with my beefiness, the Shadow volumes murder me(60 -> 18 fps). Something is amiss. I can crank Warband Battle Sizer up to 450. That is me + 449 other medium models, not to mention horses, fully animated with shadows set to max, all slinging it out before I see a decent hit to my frames.
