And one of them seems to be netgear
mark2k8 was using a netgear, he changed router to an action tech, and now it's fixed.I think Alfred was also using a netgear and was having the problem, but fixed when he changed routers.
Baladin wasnt having problems with his previous router, but started going invisible once he got a netgear.
Invisibility problem seems to be with certain routers.

i was thinking about this recently...
mainly...what if we got the bug wrong?
in space, there are the people that are 'invisible' and the people that aren't 'invisible'.
but...what if the people that are considered 'invisible' aren't the ones that are bugged?
what if it's really the 'visible' group of people who are bugged and can't be seen by the 'invisible'?
if i recall, the only reason some are considered 'invisible' is because a group of players that could see each other found somebody that they couldn't see so stated that they were invisible, and it carried on from there with anybody being considered 'invisible' if they couldn't be seen by the players who considered themselves 'visible'.
what if its really the opposite way around?

It's also sort of wrong, but definitely true that it makes your head hurt trying to understand this stuff. Makes mine hurt anyway.
Mit's recent update to the client will fix the invisibility problem for about 82% of the playerbase. According to mit, this article explains why:
http://www.brynosaurus.com/pub/net/p2pnat/
If you get off on technical networking documents that's your dream come true. For everyone else, the relevant bit to the invisibility discussion (if I understand what mit told me) is in the abstract. It's the way different vendors (router manufacturers, for our purposes) implement NAT - network address translation - that is required for this sort of peer-to-peer application to work. If we're in space and there's a combination of routers playing that don't support NAT in the right way, people become invisible.
At this point I will shut up cos I don't really understand it either :]
