Ok, there's a model in the model library called "maraudert.atm". This vehicle is a van with a machine gun turret mounted on top. The turret is static while the vehicle is on the move, but it moves in the direction where the player points when the vehicle is static.
We want to do this with a tank. Make the turret not moveable while the tank is on the move, but moving once the tank is static, and only the turret moves when the tank is static.
The question is: How?
How to....
The marauder uses a normal turret, which enables full mouse control over horizontal and vertical turret movement. However the model itself has nothing to do with the behaviour of the vehicle in game - that's a world settings thing.
I'm not sure how someone's got a turret set up to behave like that, but clearly it's possible. Copy the settings to the tank, and - assuming the tank has a full horizontal/vertical turret setup, too - that should do it.

Ok, just for the benefit of anyone else reading this (cos we've already discussed it in-world)... are we sitting down... it's a bug. Woohoo. I think mit has broken the turret code, again :) It seems vehicles with horizontal and vertical turrets are not behaving as I'd expect them to, either with or without the correct vehicle control mode.
