When my router failed much the same thought went through mine (again). And the few hours of total silence I enjoyed while the (very noisy) galserver was switched off only encouraged more of the same thinking...zaroba wrote:whew, thats a relief. when it went down, suddenly went threw my mind :PFooli wrote:Or I might just switch it all off and reduce my elec bills :]
...but for some reason I relented. I have a new router. Normal service is resumed.

The gal server is noisy?Fooli wrote:When my router failed much the same thought went through mine (again). You can't host it. Having a dynamic IP is the first reason - the galaxy's IP address is hard coded into the client. Second reason is, the gal runs in debug mode which means you need a full development environment, and the source code. And mit doesn't give out the source code.zaroba wrote:like i said in the other topic. i'll host it if you don't want to. although i don't know how much my ip changing whenever the router or modem reboots would effect it
Otherwise a fine idea :]
