hmmm....if towns could provide some shielding against attacks, would that be wanted?

or should such shielding be a seperate option.

good point, i mean we don't want people running away from you and hideing in a town. maybe you could make a tiny area around the government shops a safety place so u could re-stock though?

It would have to be an area where no damage can be done AND no weapons can be fired...

i was thinking more along the lines of a giant planet.atm model with a semi transparent texture.

anybody not in the town woulden't be able to shoot into the town due to the weps hititng the model. same for other towns. however, it'd still be possible to attack if inside the town.
it'd sorta be like a semi force field. blocking against long range weps. so that anybody wishing to attack while people are stocking would have to do so useing close range methods.

Unfortunately, a minimum range is not really a sign of strength. You can really do a lot of damage using weapons such as cruise missiles, bullets etc... and also EEs would be able to get through the shield, and would have a devastating effect, as you would be still while stocking.

Also, the problem with the dome is that, unless you have a zoomed in camera view(which isn't ideal for fighting, or even moving around in), the view would get blocked by the dome texture. This could be a solved by making the dome texture semi-transparent, but probably would be quite irritating.

Hopwever, I think the dome is a good idea for "Arena towns", where a town could exist for when you wish to have a little duel with someone...
