Hi Sir Mort here, am planing do a server Named Solaris(Ok ok i agree isnt too much creative xD) well anyway, i got som questions if anyone could help me with i would be very thanked and i would like some feedback too
Solaris is an diferent of all you saw kind of server
There are 87 diferent buildings, its an Eco Gang war kind of game, the map is composed of Areas
Grassland
Where the main town is located, best place to live
Forest
N of grassland, a good place to get wood
Swap
S of Grassland a good place to get Herbs plant drugs hide and do all kinds of illegal stuff
Mountains
Lots of places to hide too and where u can get the best mineralz, but better watch you back no one rule this land
Desert
Oil Oil Oil the best way to get oil, but watch the Actual Mayor he is drug addicted everyone who gets an cocaine in his land is king
Jungle
the best soil and the best fishes are here, but the worst leaders, a corrupt land were money is the only language
Beaches
Long Beaches are nice places to live and pricipaly to build your won Fish company or your Importation one, but the sea can be very treacherous with heavy buildings
Nuclear Zone
Two headed fishes and 30 foot tentacle monster live there , and of course Homer simpson, the only place to Build Ur nuclear plant
So another new concept is the Peoples one, all houses generate Babys (poor hoouse generate poor baby, rich house rich baby) that with the proper meals, cloths and Studing they will get to be the Worker you will need to several processes or the whore u need too hmmm you know what to do ^^, or maybe the Gang menbers to put fire on your enemy buildings
Mayor are much more important becuase they buy eletricity and sells Eletricty Contracts wich u need in buildings(same with water and Trash) so dont let the Mayor pansy because he will cut your energy
The mayors on Start are only Npcs , but u can become one mayor, not by buyng the town has usualy, you got to Earrnnn it (with empashys on the Rnnnn it) , by respect, every week there are elections, on those elections the player(must live in town) with the more respect will get the Mayorship, with several rigths like destroy a building with too much damage, Ban someone from the town confiscate some goods for the federal gov(if u know what i mean =D) and the NPCs all got 20 of respect u will need more then that to win an election
Respect so has you read up there you will need respect, and the way to get it are severals, Whores Gang Menbers, TV stations, drugs, Corrupt Police officers and Body Guards, all with its price
PvP
The Player Verus Player System is also very diferent, like u have 3 Gang Menbers u exchange then for Respect or use them to burn ur enemy Factory or store all units have theyr values like Gang Menber has Atack 3 and defense 1 and has the Molotov especial Ability with can destroys enemy Buildings, and there is The Body Guard the Has Atack 1 Defense 4 and hability to defend your life (against enemys if anyone try shots you he will sacrifice himself to preserve your life) all the battles will hapent by putting your soldiers in the Atack House or leting them defending ur own facotrys on the Defense House, but watch cuz if u get arrest ur phony up , you will spend some nice time in jail
like if you commit a crime there will be players all over loking for you (Map disabled and the land is flat) like if u stay hided for some hours or minutes (depending on the infraction) ur going to trial and if you have enougth Whores for the old Judge mans No problem But otherwise ur get freezed for a loooooong time
Well for now its only a Project but i would like to see some feedback and if someone wants to help (alll realy all help is very very usefull) well comment ^^

ok,
to set up your different biomes, id suggest first making your heightmap, which is a 256x256(i beleive) greyscale bmp. you can do this in photoshop or any other paint program.
next, youre going to want to create 16 texmaps that are custom to fit onto your heightmap.
texmaps are a better way to set up ground textures than laying a bunch of surface tiles, because they make a more natural look with much less (if not 0) repetition, and no squared tiles to bother with.
take your heightmap and split it into 4 equal quarters, then take each quarter and split each one into 4 quarters. this will provide you with 16 parts of the heightmap which you can use as templates to "paint over" to create your texmaps. i actually copied pictures of grass and dirt and stuff and layered them onto the texmaps. best to start off with a large file like 2500x2500(or bigger if your computer can handle it) then scale it down to 1024x1024jpg(or 2048x2048 if you want more detail and more loading time) when the texmaps are done. number the top left 16th #1, then the 16th to the right of that #2, top right one will be #4. next row down will be 5-8(from left to right), next row down 9-12, and the bottom row will be 13-16. its important to number them this way so that when your texmaps are completed, you can lay them all down at once using the .autotexmap16 command and the server will place them in the corrosponding areas to the heightmap. after your world gets underway, the texmaps are going to want to be hosted online to aid faster downloading. read the world manual for more on that.
donate to the whisky donation and you might be able to convince a staff member to help you host them online.
now that youve got your ground textures and mountains, next task is to prepare all the items that your world will use. this includes vehicles, so set up your vehicle settings, weapon, set up weapons settings, usable items and their scripts, books, construction materials, food and drinks, none specific items, and special items. its important to arrange all your items before you make the buildings so that you know exactly which items the buildings will sell/trade/produce/manufacture.
next task is to familiarize yourself with all the *settings. and read the entire world builder manual. if you havent done that already. will your world be a weapons allowed world with safezone, or will it be a safe world with weapons zones? that kinda thing. you can spend days trying to wrap your brain around the settings. after you get the jist of everything you can do, you might come up with new ideas for your world, or, some ideas might have to get scrapped.
weapons zones can be acheived by either surface tiles, or by creating buildzones. once you have it set that your world is weapons allowed, or safe.
after your inital settings are in place (best to turn on hunger and thirst LAST so you dont die of thirst while youre setting things up) its time to tackle the buildings and b-dats.
once your b-dats and buildings models and textures are selected, you can place trees in the forest and jungles. minerals in your mountains, and so on. if you have your world set to flatten the terrain around buildings that might disrupt the rollingness of your mountains. if you have it set up not to flatten areas around buildings to best preserve the intended shape of the heightmap, you'll want to move your buiilding models down into the ground a bit (using the 'move tool' in the model convertor) so that if you build a tree on a slope, it wont look like its floating.
after that you'll have to set up teams and spawnzones and stuff like that. even plant some trees and ornamental buildings for greater effect.
theres alot i didnt cover, and you will run into problems, but most of them can be solved. sounds like you have some good ideas cant wait to see them come to fruition.

the houses cant make items, they can only produce items. so you can set up your poor house to produce poor babies, but you'll have to set up a different manufacturing building to combine the items "poor babies + clothes" to make "workers". perhaps you could call this a "trade school" or "day care" or something. if you dont have hunger and thirst in your world, there would be no need to "live" in a house, so you could make a manufacturing building called a "poor house" which produces babies, and manufactures workers from babies+clothes.
as for gangs, i dont know anything about setting up teams.
I dont know if you can set up your fishing to get different items in different spots either, so in your nuclear area, you might need to make a building that can only be built there that produces an item called "2 headded fish" but in the rest of the world, people can fish normally and catch "fish".
but most of your building ideas sound doable with some creativity.

as for the 30 foot tentacle monster:
get yourself a tentacle monster model (theres an animated octopus model in the wildlife section of the model library, or perhaps it was in TUWR)
open it in the model convertor and scale it up to 30 feet. then move it down so most of it is under the ground level. (so it appears under the water slightly)
next youre gonna want to make the top (or bottom) 4 texmaps of your world ocean which borders the shore. in surface properties set these 4 texmaps "wildlife will try to stay within this area" the other remaining texmaps you can set to "wildlife will stay away from this area". set this wildlife to AI type 3. then get yourself a tentacle model somehwhere. upload this tentacle model as your weapon 1 graphic. go into life settings and set the wildlife to spawn in areas. then go into your client and starblock. make the block cover the ocean area where the tentacle monster will live. while the block is open, type .wildlifebox, or perhaps its .wildlife box or .wildlifebox 1
this should produce a 30 foot octopus that stays in the northers (or southern) ocean that throws tentacles which explode when they hit the player.

1 week is a bit fast to set up a decent planet(especially since its your first one). id suggest setting a realistic timetable like 1-4 months i spent a 3 days on my heightmap and close to a month on my texmaps alone. and ive probably spent the good part of a month reading and testing stuff.
of course I am a perfectionist who suffers from severe obsessive compulsive disorder as well. and i also have limited time to sit down at the computer and work. experienced planet makers like zaroba or bongzilla could probably slap a world together in close to 2 weeks.
you could just make a pretty weak world using a bunch of default stuff, just make a b-dat using the buildings editor. that would take less than a week, but im telling you that it probably wouldnt get played much. it would be a green rectangular continent thats nothing but economy.
