man, I missed a big chunk of what's happened recently in one of my many absences. To be honest, I have noticed a slight decrease in players recently, but that's not a shock.
Space is the most exciting part of the game, for all new players. Simply adapt it so it is't so much of a drag for them. Make trading runs better and more profitable & make items cheaper, and players will feel better about getting into the game, rather than having to spend days just to get one upgrade.
Yes, this reduces longevity, but that's where planets come into it. Those bored of space will have planets to 'fall back on', planets being the main hive of creativity.
Make the game more accessible/easier, more people will play.
Or.....and this is drastic....cut down on the number of systems and condense all the space players into the small number. Or even, add AI craft in space, to at least give us something to shoot......
Anything to make the journeys less lonely would improve the game.
