k i see where the trouble is. the blue 255 leaks everywhere and makes edges of leaves blue. i tried a reskin last night and after about 20 minutes of manual color pixel changing after the blue got all over the place i figured there must be an easier way. my next attemt im going to try to change the blue 255 to green, do my branch and leaf editing, change to index color and the very last step will be to refill the background with 255 blue color. that should hopefully cut down on the blue leakage. id do it now, but for some reason photoshopping hurts my wrist, i gottta do it in intervals until i can get a pencil mouse.
Pencil mouse is called a Wacom tablet. www.wacom.com
Oh right. Apparently zar has used our existing trees for those animations. If you're getting texture problems it means he's probably resized and/or compressed the original texture, which must stay as it is for the transparency to work. Have a look in /clients/data/objct for "trees.bmp". That one ought to work.flametard wrote:k i see where the trouble is. the blue 255 leaks everywhere and makes edges of leaves blue. .
Zar, if you need to resize anything with transparencies, you'll need to use a resizing method that doesn't dither the colour (eg: "pixel resize" rather than "smart resize" in Paint Shop Pro). And you can't convert to jpg either without breaking the transparencies. Has to be an indexed bitmap, or a tga or dds file with the right alpha settings (which I don't understand, so I always use bmp...)

i couldnt download the animated bmps. the one i was reskinning was oak1 or something, in the default client. but thanks for explaining what dither is. now i know dither=bad when it comes to anything with a transparency. photoshop wants to dither my stuff when i go from rgb back to index. ill figure it out.

They're all around 20Mb...so I'd be out of luck trying to e-mail them to you (at least via yahoo) ...so the direct route would probably be the best idea...zaroba wrote:i have plans to download all your movies...or if they're too big to mail, i could always create an ftp account for you on the sie to allow you to upload em directly to the site.
