I have never seen more players than 37 online , so I'm guessing that the servers or the internet connections or both over at T.U. cant handle more than around 40 players.
So many blank planets and such a big galaxy but only an average of 14 players are online at the same time, its kind of sad.
Server Capacity
I thing this game is great but for new people is very hard and this is the reason When I started no body was taking to me I get bounty shooting in self defence plus some players was treating me )))))) It was hard and unfriendly welcome Now i`em newbe helper and I love that )))

he knows what you're talking about...he was just giving you another example of a system not being used to capacity...(if there even is a max capacity)...because of the game's general unpopularity...I'm sure the server could easily handle a hundred or more players if that many people ever decided to log on at once...zaroba wrote:just means that theres never been more then 37 on at the time you checked
I'd rather think of it as low profile, not unpopular :)
We believe the server can handle a considerably larger number of players: it's pretty efficient. One day we'll test it and find out just how many... last time I spoke to Mit about this, he seemed fairly confident it'd work with a few hundred concurrent players, maybe more (and the whole thing's designed for scalability... multiple galaxy servers etc.... with some additional work, several thousand would be doable).
However as the OP implied there will always be a cut-off point for our current hosting/bandwidth method, which is about as basic as you can get... at which point the game would only work if we paid for proper hosting and some serious bandwidth, and if we got that far (as a guesstimate, say, 1000 players per day) we'd have to find a way to make the game pay for itself. So being low profile isn't necessarily a bad thing in every way :)
