interface.dll error with Universal Converter
I downloaded the Universal file converter tonight since I found a modelling program I use to use that exports to 3ds format. When I try and open the Universal file converter after extracting it I get could not find interface.dll error. Are there supposed to be more files than the exe and help file that come inside the zip file, or do I have a dll missing from my OS.... OR is it some obscure problem I couldn' possibly fathom?
Any help would be appreciated.

well since its a dll error I'm doing a roll back as that can screw up other proggies possibly...
EDIT:
Well... that didn't work, maybe I will do a full windows reinstall tomorrow, I will make sure I have all the latest updates for windows first perhaps my dll files are out of date, that depends when this iteration of the file converter was created.

Why is everyone's answer when something doesn't work, "Maybe I should reinstall my windows..."? Seems like every person over the age of 40 that I know always says that just about every time they are having even the slightest of problems.
Slighty related note: I've heard that when Vista is the standard OS you'll have to purchase a new serial key every time you reinstall. Cyborg Bill Gates is going to rule the world at this rate.

The reason you reinstall windows is because windows is full of sloppily put together programing and the registry gets trashed after a period of extensive use and general performance issues and crashes result. OR often a recently installed program overwrites a previous shared dll and instead of tracking down said dll it is often easier to simply restore the OS and original program files. Since another reason for dll errors is often an incomplete uninstall from god knows when.
Quite simply the easiest solution in fixing the rats nest of files and missing or irrelevent files that the structure of windows or is the cause of is to simply restore the system and go through all of the officiall updates if you have broadband and a fast computer it takes little time at all.
EDIT: BTW I just stuck the modelconverter in the universal file folder seeing as all the other errors when it was try to access fonts etc wouldn't go away unless I did since they were refrenced by the internal file folders of the universal folder.

That would be all well and good if I didn't have random people coming into my room f'ing up my computer at least once a week downloading god knows what. I practice all those approaches myself. Well not random people... sisters brother nieces nephews etc...
EDIT not to mention disabling Virus protection in order to download said junk.

Sounds like you should learn a little bit about maintaining your computer. I suggest starting with Tune-up Utilities 2007. http://www.tune-up.com/products/tuneup-utilities/The reason you reinstall windows is because windows is full of sloppily put together programing and the registry gets trashed after a period of extensive use and general performance issues and crashes result. Actually my comment was more focused towards:
But I suppose since I offended you bad enough to warrant a twice edited nearly ten paragraph rant I must have struck a chord somewhere deep. Just put the thesaurus down; I never claimed to be a genius. I guess it's up to you if you want to waste more of your time belittling me.smithy953!
