Clicking on the planet icon on the world client (often called the world editor) will open up The Universal Game Client - where you have the opions:
Continue Game
Select Avatar
Help
Your World
Exit
Use the page keys (page up/page down) to select one of those options.
If you select Continue Game you will return to the last point you where in space. If you had landed on a planet like Zion you will be in orbit around zion (Unless you have 'recconect to last world') that mayn't work, I don't know I never use that).
If you have found an unnamed, unclaimed planet (Claimed ones with the unregistered version of The Universal World Client will be assigned "temporarily" to a planet and will have their names underneath the Unnamed. They will show up in the system map as a named planet.
If you select Your World you will go directly to your world and should go to it even if you have never connected it to a world in any system.
Part 2:
Uploading files into your Game client.
On your game client click on Options, an extension to the window will open downward. There you will have several options, starting with a tab for music, Wrold chat, tools, etcetera.
If you select tools from the top menu You get a list from Building editor, Models selector, Terrain selector, and so on.
Click on one of those and make certain that in the options drop down you have the tool tab selected. Select (click on) any object down the list and what should happen is you will be given the option to slect stuff, for models textures and model files (in tractor format), for land textures there are several options on where they may be in your Program Files/theUniversal file.
The first line under the tabs will say (As example): Current Model Folder is Data/Models/XXX which ever folder it is in.
FOLDERS: I've recently listed a good many of them on another post, the thread is: http://theuniversal.net/forum/viewtopic ... highlight=
I believe my post is # 3, rather long winded there.
What should happen after you double click on say Model and Jpeg image is that it is selected and assigned to your model (as example) make certain you double click. In the extened tools tabs you will see the current model/texure. If the name is too long it will not show up on there.
When you log back onto your world what should happen is that when you select or use a model/texture that isn't on the world already there will be a downloading message. What is happening for the world owner is that a copy of the model/texture is being sent to the Client's folder which is pretty much divided the same as Data folders. so if you are really in doubt if a model or texture has been uploaded into your world, check the client folder.
Mind Clients folder contains all the models/textures that you found on all worlds. You do not have to have a differently named model EXAMPLE Zion_BiPlane if you have not changed the biplane model. If you change the texture then you should change the name to XXX-BiPlane where XXX is the name of your world. Or you can add the name at the end - what ever.
Personally I have a tile of land assigned a surface number of my choice that I can change in the World client and a TEST building (Sys-ops building that does nothing except say TEST) that I change the model and its texture with. I know exactly where that building and tile is and when I test a new model/texture what ever I run over to that to see what I have. I usually resize models or tweak textures depending on how it looks in the "real world" from there.
You also have to make certain to clean out your client folder.
IF you change a texture named "XXX_TEXTURE01.Jpeg" (Example name) and you save it as "XXX_TEXTURE01.Jpeg" it will be changed in your Data file ONLY. The older version that is in the client's folder will remain the same and will be referenced when you join the world.
You can either delete the texture in the Client folder (or move it elsewhere) or you can assign a different name to the texture file in your Data Folder.
Personally when I am testing and working with a texture I name it "Alpha_XXX_Texture_01.Jpeg" If I dislike it I change the name to "Beta_XXX_Texture_01.Jpeg" Continuing down the Greek Alphabet until I reach the exact texture that I want, then I try to name it something that is easy to rememeber, or as it is assigned like "Wildlife_Sheep_01_Oraen" Where I know its wildlife #1, it is a sheep and it will be in the game clients under Oraen so anyone who has been too Oraen (my world) will know that that texture applies to my world.
If you are still having problems then go to say Zion, sit there until all of its models and textures are loaded up. Go back to your world (Infp Drive is great for this purpose, type in the name of any world on line and poof you are there).
Open up the Clients folder, data, models/textures whatever copy and past that file into the DATA folder matching. Select the model/texture and apply it WITHOUT changing the name. Go to your world (you may need to restart The Universal, or launch into space) and see if the model/texture has been transfered to your world. If not then come back here and Fooli will offer his services because then you most likely do have an issue with the client.
Cheers
