new and old players space fight night with prizes

Post by coolbiker »

On saturday 10th february there will be a fight night in the megacityone system for anyone old or new.
doesnt matter if u r new to the game, come along.
several prizes, the top one being roughly 3500 space credits (enough to buy a gal freighter :-) ) .
players will b organised according to abilities.
the night will consist of 2 parts.
1. at least 3 ships with cargo will b there waiting to b hunted down for their cargo. anything u win u get to keep.
2. when all cargo has been won and sold there will b a fight between all players versus the ships that had the cargo.
ever wanted to destroy a galaxy cruiser ? well nows ur chance :)
its rumoured an alien megascout or two will b there with cargo also

the event will start at 9pm greenwich mean time

any questions post here or ask coolbiker - smurfy - vinishal

rich players needed to police the event

lastly - mit has said he will donate ps2 games as prizes on top of the cargo if at least 10 players turn up.
max credits to participate in the fight for the cargo is 5000cr

oh and if anyone knows how to take a screenshot let me know - cos mit requires one as proof

If it's 9 GMT, anyone know what it would be US Central Time?

I like this idea...we should have more events like this in future...good way to bring most of the TU players together at once...assuming this one works out...

Ah ha, Here's the topic you were talking about.

This sound very fun, and Mit's participation makes it even more so. This guy must have a huge cache of PS2 games in his closet, I suspect from his occupation :). This is a very creative event you have here 1c, Good job. I just hope no one tries to pull funny business.

Er...because that would force all of the GMT people to stay up past midnight. A rather large chunk of this games community is people from that timezone.

I think this is a great idea. Should be something like this every week or two. Hopefully, I'll have a chance to be around a computer so I can be present.

Well maybe in between both then? Mostly because although a lot including myself come from that timezone, there's usually more internet users from the US and Canada overall (not counting Netherlands etc.) so i was considering maybe a larger portion of new players would be from those regions and maybe couldn't get online that early in the afternoon. Well i suppose existing times will do... just ignore me then :P

unfortunatly due to timezones, no matter what time of day it is, it'll be bad for some people.

i know of a little program called ATScreenThief thats perfect for taking pics (no, the AT doesn't stand for a-tractor :P). you can set it up so that when you hit a certain key (like Shift+C) it'll take a picture of the active window and save it to your hard drive automatically.

its much nicer then using print screen since with that you have to go out and manually save the pic each time, which means you might miss nice shots.

i will organise these regularly if its successful, and will be open to ideas for variation

maybe a big ship night as well - i think i owe chezzie the chance for revenge

as for times of events - im open on that also.
9pm just seemed a good compromise

Hope to see lots of u there

Or Hypersnap, Fraps, or even Paintshop Pro. There're loads of progs that'll do the automatic directX screencap thing. I reckon, though, you need to be looking for something that'll take movies too :)

I'd do it, but I can't be here tomorrow night. Mit vaguely said he'd be around to take pics , so there's one option.

i'll probably be around too. but i'm wondering if i'll have to spend time running aswell :P
so might be good to get a few people for picture taking.

on a side note, this computer is pretty strong, i could probably easily record the event pretty easily.

hmm...a galaxy spectator mode would be perfect for something like this.
if a person could sit far away and spectate players in the fight, with the ability to zoom in and out, then great videos could be made. otherwise alot of time will be spent trying to get good views of players fighting, and with ships (or atleast mine) flying and turning slowly, that'll resault in alot of missed shots. even when only 20 away from somebody, there ship is somewhat hard to make out.

I have made a lil custom modification to my client such that it will record all network messages i receive in space, and store it all in a file.
It'll take a bit of time, but somepoint later i'll also write a mod to the client so it can play back the recorded messages, meaning we could replay the entire sequence of events in space. Coz its recording the positions and weapons of the players, it'll be possible to script the camera movements to produce a cinematic of all that goes on (from whatever camera angles we want). Theoretically :]
