I don't suppose patching my version 0.49.8b1 with the most recent beta version will work will it...doing those things tend to make a lot of evil 2's appear in the binary code...should I just go ahead and go for full install or risk it?

Your auto update should kick in and update for you.
If note just down load the new update.

I wasn't concerned about actually being able to update my version...I've done it dozens of times before...sometimes in the past when I have missed several patch versions and then tried to add the most recent one, problems arose...

Not sure if its the case currently...I can't seem to get the galaxy to respond to me...is it still experiencing downess or am I going to need to figure out what's wrong?

Seeing as there is no news about any more down time with house moving.
It looks like you have computer hic up. Or a bad line.
Are using landling or adsl ( Borad band. ).
I say re down load client and try once more and see what happens.

Also, you might not be waiting long enough. Since the move, the first connection to the new server takes longer than usual.

installed the full version of the game over my old one and still I get nothing when it attempts of establish a connection...in the gateways list both the andromeda and chat server say they are online (although the main server takes quite awhile to confirm)...how much is removed when you tell the game to uninstall...I don't want to lose my stockpile of old building pics and such...but nothing else seems like it might work...

Ah now we are geting some were.
First befor you do anything back up or copy the folder the the game clinet has made. It should be in the theuniversal. Just copy the whole file onto your desk top.
I will take a short break and reinstall my clinet. Will be back unless someone beats me to it.

I is back.
The next time you click the icon for the game and you get to this part ( in the gateways list both the andromeda and chat server say they are online )
Click on Don't Connect button. This should being you to the welcome page were you can start play.
What the clint is trying to do is connect with a planet that is not online. Some times it comes up with a list of planets which you can start on.
It is save to click on Don't Conect button. You should be back in space or a space station or where ever you were last time you played.

I was speaking of the gateway list that can be accessed after you click the Don't Connect button via the small mode...the initial Galaxy List page (the one I believe your talking about) right after the client has failed to establish a connection Reads...

Galaxy Server Name ___________ I Status ___________
Unknown World (***Current Gal***) I Not Responding

when I do click 'Don't connect' it brings up the welcome screen and in place of the usual 'continue game' (been so long can't remember if that's what it reads..) it has the the 'server list' thingy...with a list of worlds that can be contacted directly (of which Zion and Ariya are availible and I have already visited)...indicating the galaxy server is down...

Oh and I did uninstall and reinstall and nothing new happened...

It looks like the server is done. I can not leave planet to get into space.
I have downloaded the latest version and installed. This may have something to do with moving house.
In the mean time just keep trying.

Port: 2558

If this information is incorrect, I blame the Gateway List :P

Look at the IP Address. The port is the same one as the chat server's, but the IP is different.

If you're using the latest version now, it should obtain the Galaxy's new ip from the chat server automagically.

Galaxy: 82.69.86.116 : 2558
Chat: 82.69.113.186 : 2558
