3d Studio Max 6 HELP!

Post by Lord_Ephialtes »

Can anyone help me on 3d studio max, i have a .3ds model, i want to make it an atm. I downloaded this model WITH the texture already on it, how do i make it an atm and get it to export its texture too? Basically, how do i export the texture in 3ds Max?

Im guessing Fooli can help me here!

3ds files dont contain a texture - if you've downloaded a model from one of those free model sites, its quite likely that the model is made using loads and loads of polygons each with a different face colour. (This is usually the case (and they're often so high detail that it actually looks like the model is textured) but unfortunately it makes em almost completely useless for use in game rendering).

If it came with a separate texture file (a .bmp or something), then ya can try to load the .3ds in the model converter, and then use the Rendering menu to see what it'll look like with the texture applied. If it looks ok, ya should be able to jus save it out as an atm, and set the texture to use on the island model selector.

If the .3ds doesnt load in the model converter, or it loads but the texture looks all screwed up, ya could try converting the .3ds to .x first with any of the many converter programs that support this, then load the .x file into our model converter for exporting to atm.

Strange. The model converter can only load x files.

the newest version 0,8 isnt available on the site.
