Setting up schools

Post by Jemrada »

It has been awhile since I setup schools. I have a few gquestions in regards to this.

Is there any benefits to employing a teacher?
Was there ever a command created to fill the schools with skills instead of granting yourself the skill then adding them to the school?
Are level ups working beside rebuying the same skill?

if you set it so players can make a profit from skills (in the economy settings, School Learn Profit i think its called) and set the school to employ a teacher, then one is needed for the player to make the profit. if its not set to need a teacher, then they'll get the profit.

no command that i saw according to cvs.

the leveling up build skills via building stuff is still working.
afaik, thier is still no use to level up job skills.

So the Tech levels in the building editor is just to determain what materials are used?

'fixed school' (as discussed in the other thread) is a way of pre-setting lessons which u might find handy.
building tech levels can be used to change what materials they use and theres also a few other options,e.g only having level 2 buildings possible in level 2 towns, or only having buildings of each accessible to players of certain teams or levels. (theres a few different options floating bout for that stuff now - best bet would be to search the manual or interrogate morbydvisns, as hes used that kinda stuff a fair bit :] )
Skill levels are still mostly redundant except perhaps on some obscure fairly useless setup. I mean to go tidy that up some somepoint soon...

btw, if you havent played thru Syv or The Republic yet, id recommend you do so.. they both make use of a lot of these new custom building types and so will give you a good idea of the sorta things that are possible.
