How can I help?

Post by Quarkite »

I've joined the artists group because I can create and texture original models. I'm creating a new world with all original models. This will take some time but I think it will add to the experience for the general player community as well as open a few doors for world creators.

I'm also a professional programmer; I've been developing applications, system tools and utilities, services and networking protocols for businesses, government and commercial projects in a multitude of languages for about 25 years. I'm fairly new to the arena of game programming and the DirectX APIs but I'm sure I will be able to start hacking out some useful code soon.

I also saw a post looking for musical talent somewhere and I may be willing to provide some original music but I'll have to work on a few original scores for my own world first.

I think there is more potential than meets the eye here and I'd like to contribute to the general project development in various ways. I'm not currently in the coders group, so someone else would know better if I fit the desired profile for that group. Either way, I'll try to make some useful contributions (as time permits).

:)

Hello, I don´t know exactly where to ask, but i fell over your advertising to find minigame creators.
I would like to have a look at the required library to decide whether i can help or not.
About me: I´m not as skilled as the topic creator  but I atleast own Visual C++ and have read books about C++ programming and game creation with DirectX 9. At the time I´m learning Windows API programming.
I would be grateful if you could give me access to the coders section ( or atleast to the part about minigames)!

Thanks!

hey guys..
please could you both apply to join the coders group using the 'usergroups' link at the top of the forums. (The "desired profile for that group" is anyone who wants to join :] )

I need to update the coders page with some more stuff for the minigames etc, which i'll try to sort out soon. I'm also keen on exposing some more of the source code (via the coders corner or 'public' access to the cvs repository) .. will look into how that can be arranged without compromising the core elements of the gameplay. (Opensource is a lovely idea in general, but for an online game - especially one involving a virtual economy - itd make the thing too easily open to abuse).
Device, remind me to bother you about some of this soon :]

I don´t know if its my fault, but the only group I can attempt to join is the beta testers group. The group information about the coders group says that the group is closed and does not accept any further members.

note : i've just updated the coder's corner section a bit (refresh the front page to get the new link).
Nothing much new content-wise yet (sorry) but i've added a few more bits of relevant info and changed the layout about a bit so it'll make it easier to add and maintain stuff in the future.

I've just located the bits of the standalone arcade code i was looking for so i should be able to add that in in the next day or two.
