New Model Converter : v0.5

Post by Mit »

Version 0.5 of the ATM converter is now linked on the Island Design page. Amongst the new features are..
  • Resizable 3d window
    New scale dialog
Options for producing vehicles with animated wheels
Options for separate lower detail LOD & Collision-Map submodels
Various other lil fixes such as the scale functions applying to all frames of an animation and to turrets & other submodels.
There is also functionality to Export/Import from and to .3ds files, tho both are currently only about 50% working. (It sometimes has problems with normals and/or texture coordinates)

Please note that many of the new features will not be viewable until the next version of the game is released. Also, the Interface.dll used by the new model converter is different from the one used in the game, so be sure to put it in a new folder, not in your existing client folder.

small suggestion mit, but couldn't you just change the font dependancy within the converter so it could be a truely standalone application? why it should live in the game directory at all seems strange to me...long ago i just copied the font (and replicated the path) over to a seperate folder, so that the converter doesn't have to bother the game and i don't feck up the dll.

i'll have to remember to make an icon for that when i send the others

also just a side note, since it's amazing how many times this has happened to me and still continues to catch me by surprise:

if you're getting slow game performance, particularly low fps while in large mode, and you're running the model converter at the same time? there's your problem :]

minimizing the model converter window or putting the game in small usually solves the problem for me.
