Afternoon.
I've just updated the gal server and reset all galactic characters - everyone will now find themselves back in the orbit of the starting world with 30cr and a crap spaceship.
Infimps are available for 25cr if you just wanna get back to your favourite planet.
The galaxy economy is now "Basically Complete" - Planets have active supply and demand chains for each line they produce, different planet types have different needs and surpluses, prices change slowly over time as planets use & produce more or less of an item (and as players trade and move items about), and players can find regular, but changing, trade routes across the gal for a consistent profit. Theoretically.
It should still be considered beta for a while yet.. right now particularly as its possible somethin fundamental will crop up that would require another reset fairly soon. Inevitably, players will find some trades more profitable than others, and there may still be bugs around that could be exploited for profit - so there'll be some tweaking and fixing to do before it can really be played 'properly'.
There'll be another reset sometime soonish.. anything from a few days to a month or two.. after which we'll hopefully have everything nicely set up and stable for the end of the summer onwards.
Gal Reset #1
you've been able to kill each other for a while.. its just not very easy and a bit pointless atm. More weapons, better lag prediction, and the ability to steal other people's cargo are in progress and should be ready by the time the next, proper, gal reset occurs.
You cant use weapons with any high speed drives.. either thats because a) your spaceship is diverting too much power to its weapon systems to power the drive or b) high speed 3d space combat online is impractical and not much fun.

It seems that every trade I can currently come up with will only yield maybe 4 creds or less per trip. These trips can often differ in travel times from 3 minutes to around 15. To someone (such as myself) who wants to get ahead in the trading world this is very disheartening compared to the 128 creds it was possible get per trip prior to reset.
EDIT: in a semirelated topic: after galancing at main page I realized one thing... hypnotickirby seems to have more prestige than currently possible. It seems to me that 60 pres is maximum currently obtainible with the current world statuses (20 from sabrada, 20 from planitia, 20 from luca) yet he has 150. I therefore am suspious of if there is not a bug being exploited here.

i suspect the proper balance will be somewhere midway between the two..
Thanks for your feedback.. tis the only way to get this sorta stuff settled
The gal econ is controlled with a bunch of settings, similar to those on worlds, so adjusting them to give appropriate amounts of potential will be something thatll happen over the course of the next few weeks.
More lucrative trade routes will appear as more planet types are added.. transferring narcotices from a lawless planet to an affluent hedonistic one would perhaps be one of the biggest earners.. but it'll come with a risk :]
Its quite likely more routes will appear over the next few days, as the gal econ runs through a larger number of production, supply and demand cycles.. Then again, it might get worse.. i have no idea til it happens
kirby would have got his extra prestige from biplaneworld which had a 150 max limit set (oops). Ive lowered that to 5 now so its more in line with other worlds, and reduced the previous gains by 145.
