by the nature of the fact that the galaxy is down tends to mean that none of us are around to restart it as we have remote access to the server machine... therefore no-one would be around to post a message to say it is down either :)

as for the unable to bind port message that means that some other program is trying to use the port that the game is trying to use so it is probably a configuration issue on your machine.

mmm.. that problem occuring on a server which uses a fixed port is common enuf when you try to run the same executable twice. (The solution being not to run the same executable twice :] )

yeh the error message is saying that "some other program is trying to use the port that the game is trying to use" - but when the client boots up it chooses which port to use by saying to windows 'please give me a valid port from all the ones you have available'.. and windows returns a valid number to use. If thats not happening, it sounds to me like somethings fundamentally fecked with your windows setup.

If that system doesnt work, then most internet programs (including browsers etc) also wouldn't work.

I presume you're using the current 0.46.1 version of 'TheUniversal' yeh?
If you havent already.. restart your pc.. might just be a temporary thing.
If its still not happenin.. mm.. reinstall windows maybe? (eek)
