lol, what makes you think its ip?
luca had to be reregistered because the pc changed. different pc means different id
unless mit changed it in the past month, it has nothing to do with ip. the regi0000.dat still goes by computer id and world name.
proof of this is simple:
changing your ip (network or isp) does nothing. i have a dsl with a dynamic ip. i've changed the ip of the hosting computer on my network many times in the past.
if you change the island name, you need a new one. thus the regi will only work on the island it was made for. this is why i always have zoric named as Zoric instead of Zoric #
if you reformat or change computer, you need a new one. reformating is the same as tossing it on a different pc. the reformanted computer will have a different id and the islands will need to be reregistered. thus the worlds only work for the pc (ok, windows instilation) they were on when registered.
however, if set up for mutliple world hosting (like i am) you can easily change the pc the worlds are on without needing to reregister them. i haven't had to register zoric since the first time i registered it. i can move any worlds i currently host to any computer (in my network or anywhere in the world) without them needing to be reregistered.
