Looks like he forgot the other img tag, and forgot to put a pace between model and the first "[img]".

Milkshape 3D is only $25 and is as good as 3DSMAX at $500+ although it's not as good as Maya (nothing really is as good as Maya). Anyway there is alot of modeling help at the milkshape website....

I think there is a 30 day free trial for it as well.
PS- is there a limit on the polycount for models or is that up to the world owners?

Heh, if you can find Max for just $500 buy as many as you can afford - the list price is more like $5k for the latest version.
Gmax is a good alternative. So's Blender, though I've never used it. Wings3D too. All free. Any half-decent package should be up to making a car - it's just a curvy box on wheels, after all :)
Polycount is up to the world owners and people (like me) who make the 3d models. As a world owner there's no theoretical limit except what might be imposed by your video card, or, more importantly, the cards your players use. Generally it's a good idea to keep the count as low as possible but we do have levels of detail in the model format, plus draw distance and other settings, that can be used to make high-poly worlds playable without requiring an uber PC. Depends on the world type too: a pure economy world probably won't suffer if framerate drops to 10fps or something, while an action-oriented world obviously would.

i found a good link, free model [url] http://www.3dcafe.com/asp/vehicles.asp
i've tried many of those models ingame and most of them either:
1. have waaaay to many polys (alot of detail can be put in the texture instead of in the actual model)
2. have no texture
3. have no UV Mapping done
4. are screwed up (inside out polys, boxes/polys not aligned correctly or way off)
5. any combo of any of the above
but anyway, that site and others like TurboSquid.com are great places to find models and use them as ideas for models and basicly remake them for use in the game.
