zoric/wings field possibly going 24/7 by the middle of May

Post by zaroba »

as the topic says.
by the middle of may, i will possibly have a new pc to run it on.
if not the middle, then by the end of may

then a week or two later will probably get water cooling to keep it nice and cool.
then a week or two later will get mirrored hard drives for backups and safety.
then a week or two later will get an UPS so the server will be fine during power outages.

Don't under estimate the job in hand :)

If you don't want a lot of work buy that HUGE resivar that works as a radiator.
All you need after that is waterblocks and a kick arse pump.

(Don't under any sercemstances use a small pump/resivrar .... they brake quick and run out of water ;) )

well, the main thing i was thinking was to use a nearby fishtank as the res for good cooling, i don't think a pc could heat up 35 gallons of water faster then it would cool by itself :P
if not an actual fishtank, then just a 10 gallon aquarium with water on the bottem shelf of my closet

either that or put some holes in the floor and run the hoses down into the crawl space under the house and have a big tub down thier.

You can have a working fish tank as your radiator :)
just submurge it inside it and tropical fish ;)

oh, until the new pc gets here, the servers will be running partially 24/7 on the current pc. instead of shutting down the pc and servers when i goto bed, if thiers anbybody playing on any of the worlds, i'll just leave the servers running.

lol, don't count on it seer.
zoric is so fast to move out of the main systems when it goes down, yet when other servers are down for a while or pretty much completly inactive they get to stay in thier

but oh well. thats what inf imps are for
