New Econ World - Thoughts?

Post by Nigel »

What do you dislike about some worlds? what do you like about them? problems? solutions? rant here. :)

Just interested in what others have to say about this stuff. it would also be a great help to me (and other owners)

Banks seem to be a good start...

I've said it in-game, but here goes :)

I don't like free money, money that comes out of nowhere.
Examples of free money: employer wage grant, banks, huge start cash.
Free money causes deflation, which is a major curse on current econ. islands.
Extremely low prices is the thing that eventually kills worlds, (resetted or not;)).

I'd love to play on a world where surviving itself is a challenge.
I liked the idea of the Island of Muridae .01, where government owned some factories in manufacturing town, which were sold at ridiculous prices. The central town, Muridae Town, had some apartments, but most were situated in Mur Suburbs. The Central town also had some gov. owned grocery stores (selling food and drinks), and of course fuel. The prices were ridiculously high. So, once player owned businesses arrived, they were really popular. If and when they ran out of supplies, which, in the beginning, happened often, one could still buy government food to survive, but lost a lot of cash.
The aparments were too costly to be bought with one's starting cash. That's why they could be rented.

Oh, and keeping Gods/Ops/Knights/etc. to the minimum is always a good idea.

if its a working bdat, i could convert it to be used in this version :P

you had a pretty hard island made thier. well, maybe not hard, but slow. remember? it took something like 3 months before the first building was baught, and you lowered the price for the guy.

Unlike most people here, I play to have fun, not for a challenge, probably why I havn't logged in for awhile. I'd rather have a world where your main concerns aren't about eating from one week to the next. Zoric 9 was fun, the constantly changing market mixed with govt buying made it so that simply surviving wasn't hard, but if you weren't able to move when the market changed you usually found yourself with buildings that you couldn't give away.

The downside to Zoric 9 is that it required too much effort from the world owner, it did afterall drive Zar further ino insanity. With things as they are program wise, you really wouldn't be able to set the planet to shift economy and such automatically. I'm sure you could come up with something close, but it would probably kill the diversity of materials and buildings, not to mention be a bitch to figure out.

Well, inactivity was a major issue, as newbies preferred the world in which eveything was pretty much free of charge (can't remember it's name). So, only a handful of players played on TRX. Nobody combined forces, which I was hoping for. P3gasus and I did put our cash together on Valhalla, and we practically owned the island. Our domination disencouraged newbies, so Valhalla got more and more inactive as time went by. It ran for a decent amount of time, unlike Mit's world (can't remember it's name) which was totally abandoned after Joe's family (which eg. DeVice and I were a part of) took over the entire fuel industry and started to take over other businesses too.
Yeah, got a little offtopic there :).

I don't think my island ran for 3 months, but yes the developement was a tad slow. Slow developement probably does add to world longetivity, though. Or one family could take over and destroy the world.

Did you find the bdat from the files I sent you or from your old harddrive or something?

I suppose I'm the only one who's made too hard islands :).

bring back zion. It was slow but it was fun. No hunger/thirst, that just makes you want to rush around quickly and get out of the world.

Give players something to do other than just check there buildings, the crows on zion were good, you had to be careful about your energy, unlike some worlds where one hit kills so you just keep your finger on the fire button and hope for the best. Kricket is also a fun game to play if you get enough players.

On current Planitia you get way too much starting cash.

I can't remember if this was brought up before or what, but I'll say it anyways.

I think we should implement a world with 10 minute months. Make the hunger say... a little faster than Sabrada. The game would reset every week or month or so, depending on when the economy went to shinola. Also make the build price for a town super-high. so you dont end up with an island like sabrada with its 30 towns in the first 2 days.

I play for fun... I don't want to drive back and forth, I want to battle people... Have it be tactical combat... Tanks with tank shells that fire straight and not a cruise missile that goes over land. I want full combat with lots of vehicles, and you only beable to hold one vehicle... I want transportation helicopters to be important to rescue stranded soilders.

MORTAL COMBAT!
