universal chat and reina roja

Post by puggy »

First off is there a problem with the universal chat as it seems to be down for me.

Secondly, can anyone land on reina roja with the .40 client?

hedge unfortunately seems to have left it running with the old server before disappearing off to michigan for a while. until he gets back online regularly it'll be 0.1.38 only unfortunately.

Chat server was moved to magic's server, which currently seems to be completely dead.
One of those days. :]

I'll put up a new patch that connects automatically to the new chat server as soon as a) its back online and b) ive got a new pc to compile the patch on.

chat server is back online again but you will still need the patch to get it running again :)

not sure what happened on the server the whole machine just died earlier though i believe it may be something to do with a 3 year old boy :)

you can do it manually if you're desperate.. go to the gateways list from small mode, delete the entry for the chat server, (in fact, delete everything except andromeda, just to be sure), then add the chat server's new IP manually.
The chat server's new IP is.. um.. about to be posted here by magic as ive forgotten it? :]

I had trouble getting on until I deleted the other gateways (par andromeda), if you're having problems like I did, do this. Cheers mit :)

(can we make this a sticky re the manual adding until the next patch is out?)

Quick question, would it not be better to use domian names instead of ip's, then it's only a case of changing the dns?

ips work fine just some of the code needed to distribute the changes across all the clients needs some work... course until we have to move a gateway server like this we dont know if it works or not :)

in the meantime i've got my new lappytop. and there's wifi everywhere, so i can game away while sittin on my new front porch* 8)

okay roja should be back up later today, and i'm extending the gametime two weeks out, to obviously make up for the two weeks of downtime while i moved house.

ETA is that it should be before 5pm est.
